Liverpool have been linked with a whole host of players over the last few years.

And, in the last couple, they've spent well over £600 million trying to improve their ranks.

Some of the players that they've brought in have massively helped turn things around at Anfield but others, such as Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, have been a little lacklustre.

This is why, despite the transfer window being shut at the moment, Liverpool are still getting linked with a new player almost every day.

Obviously, some of the players who pop up are old flames that seem to have had their interest from Liverpool reignited but, a lot of them are new links.

These rumours have led to many questions being asked about the future of the Reds' first-team squad and now, the rumour mill has started to turn once again.

Barcelona only want £60 million for Jules Kounde

One of Liverpool's main problems last season was their right-back.

Throughout the campaign, it felt like both Frimpong and Conor Bradley spent more time side-lined due to injury than actually playing for the Reds.

This resulted in three midfielders and Joe Gomez having to take the reins at full-back and, while some such as Dominik Szoboszlai did surprisingly well, you could tell that Liverpool's midfield was much worse off without him in there.

And, even though Frimpong came back from injury and tried to stake his claim for the starting spot, he failed which is why Ronald Araujo was signed in the summer.

To be fair to the Uruguayan, he's taken to life as a Premier League player very well and has quickly become one of Liverpool's most important players.

However, since his deal isn't permanent, different options for Liverpool to explore are being shared with Football Insider now sharing that the Reds have been told how much Barcelona would accept for Jules Kounde.

"Liverpool have been told Barcelona will listen to offers worth £60million or more for Jules Kounde, sources have told Football Insider," they wrote.

"The 27-year-old has dropped out of Hansi Flick's starting XI in recent weeks, fueling speculation that he could seek a move away, and placing high-profile clubs on alert.

"Andoni Iraola's side are believed to be keeping a close eye on the right-back's situation, and could be tempted to make a move if they are made aware of his availability.

"Liverpool are believed to be among Kounde's strong admirers amid concerns about their right-back options, but whether there is a deal to be done remains to be seen."

Liverpool's defence could still do with an upgrade or two

At the moment, Liverpool's defence is probably one of the strongest areas of their squad.

However, with Virgil van Dijk set to exit at the end of the season and Jeremy Jacquet out injured, problems are arising.

Liverpool may have a solid starting back four but, if one or two injuries occur, they have nowhere near enough players to cover all the positions to the same standard.

And, while Araujo is obviously doing well at the moment, his €55 million buy clause could prove to be a bit of an issue with his injury history no doubt playing a part in that.

But, much like Araujo, Kounde would demand a high fee so, realistically, the Frenchman may not be the player for them.

At the moment, it's anyone's guess what could happen in the upcoming January or summer transfer window but, the fact that many different players are still being linked with a move to Anfield is good news.
