Agreement is done, Liverpool will sign special England star
Liverpool are going to be signing an exciting England star, the agreement is already in place.
Andoni Iraola doesn't have an easy job at Anfield right now. There are so many variables and so many things going wrong at the moment.
The biggest issue is the lack of balance in the squad. Richard Hughes may have signed exciting players but alongside Arne Slot, they also created a lack of cohesion and balance within the team.
It means, there is potential in this Liverpool side. However, there's also a lot of work to be done. Right now the Reds are embarking on a transition period.
It will take time for Liverpool to reach their previous heights. But with patience and with the right recruitment decisions, Iraola can definitely take them there.
Why Liverpool's biggest priority is signing English players
It's fair to say that over the course of Hughes' era, Liverpool's homegrown options were decimated.
Slot was simply unwilling to give players from the academy even a semblance of a chance. It's why fringe players who could easily now be playing a role at the club such as Tyler Morton, Curtis Jones, Caoimhin Kelleher and many others opted to leave.
What it has done is that Liverpool are now in a huge deficit when it comes to homegrown players. They had to register players like Isaac Mabaya, who struggled for game time at Wigan to make up the numbers in the Premier League squad.
That is not the best way to utilise their options, which is why in the future Liverpool are going to have to focus on homegrown options, and predominantly English players since they are the ones most likely to qualify as homegrown in this post-Brexit world.
Liverpool will sign Jarell Quansah, it's going to happen
Over the course of this international break the former Reds academy product has established himself as a key piece of Thomas Tuchel's plans for England.
Quansah started back-to-back games for England, one at right-back and another at centre-back and excelled in both games helping his country to two clean-sheets and providing an assist in the game he started as a right-back against Croatia.
The fact that he is a right-back and centre-back hybrid makes him the ideal profile for Liverpool. Quansah could be the perfect replacement for Gomez, and his performances are making it very likely that Liverpool are going to trigger their buy-back clause which becomes active next year.
As previously reported, Liverpool have not only agreed a £55m buy-back clause with Bayer Leverkusen, but already have an agreement in place with Quansah himself over a contract proposal.
The special defender is simply destined to return to Anfield. It's inevitable.
