Corrections policy

At Anfield Watch, we strive for complete accuracy, context and reliability across all our reporting, tactical analysis and news coverage. However, when errors do occur, we believe in taking immediate accountability.

Transparency is a fundamental element of credible sports journalism. When we make a mistake, our commitment is to acknowledge it, correct it swiftly and ensure our readers know what was changed and why.

How we handle corrections

When a factual or contextual error is identified, our editorial team works to resolve it as quickly as possible. To maintain clarity, we distinguish between minor adjustments and major corrections.

Minor adjustments

Typographical errors, grammatical fixes, formatting tweaks and minor updates that do not alter the core substance, facts or context of an article are updated directly within the piece without a separate notice.

Major corrections

If a correction changes the key facts, context, headline, statistical meaning or overall interpretation of an article — for example misattributed transfer reporting, incorrect match statistics or inaccurate quotes — we update the text immediately and append a clear note at the bottom of the article.

This note explicitly details:

  • what detail was updated or corrected;
  • the date and time the correction was implemented.

Our priority is to ensure our readership can always rely on the timeliness, fairness and accuracy of our publications.

The correction process

Corrections can originate from internal review or directly from readers, clubs, media colleagues and sources. Every correction request is reviewed by a senior editor before any action is taken.

When evaluating a potential correction, our editorial team carefully assesses:

  1. The nature of the issue. Whether the error is factual, linguistic or contextual.
  2. The impact. How significantly the detail affects the article's core narrative or reader understanding.
  3. The transparency requirement. Whether a formal editor's note at the base of the article is necessary.

Validated corrections are typically processed and updated within 24 to 48 hours of receiving notification.

How to submit a correction

We deeply value the engagement of our community in holding our reporting to the highest standard. If you identify a factual error, incorrect metric or unverified statement in any of our articles, please let us know:

When submitting a correction request, please include:

  • the URL of the article in question;
  • the specific statement or detail you believe is inaccurate;
  • any supporting documentation, official source or context, where applicable.

Our promise to readers

Prompt, transparent corrections are a sign of editorial responsibility, not a weakness. By being open about updates and fixes, we reinforce our commitment to the high-quality, independent football journalism that Anfield Watch readers can trust. The standards behind that commitment are set out in our editorial policy.
