Liverpool have found a new first-team winger and he's special

Liverpool have found themselves a new first-team winger. He's a special talent - but can he do it at the top level?

There's no question that Liverpool need a new winger. The Reds lost Mohamed Salah this summer and his output needs replacing.

Because even if Salah did have his least productive campaign last time out, he was still one of the more productive wingers around. Six goals and six assists in the Premier League is more than virtually all of Liverpool's potential replacements managed.

This is, after all, a truly terrible market to shop in and we imagine the Reds would necessitate a change of formation in a different era. Modern football prefers to fit players into a preferred system rather than the other way around, however, and so we do think the club will move for someone.

But maybe the answer is already at the club? Liverpool have already signed a winger, for one, with Victor Munoz joining up with his new teammates relatively soon.

There's another with the group this summer, too. Kieran Morrison is an outstanding talent and academy graduate who is looking to make waves at senior level.

Now, maybe that's at Liverpool or maybe that's on loan elsewhere but there's no question that he's got the kind of ability to make it in the Premier League. He just needs the right environment to display it.

As journalist Ian Doyle points out, Morrison does prefer to play on the right hand side and there's certainly a gap there in pre-season. He'll get minutes, in other words, and the opportunity to impress a new head coach.

And Morrison certainly knows how to impress. He put in some truly incredible performances in Premier League 2 last season, including a span of 12 goals in 10 games - with a couple of assists thrown in for good measure.

Something similar in pre-season will see Morrison force his way into the senior setup this season. It could also potentially fix a big problem for Liverpool as they attempt to find value in an awful market.

A win/win, then?
