It's on: Liverpool enter talks for bombshell PSG double deal
Liverpool are to enter talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a bombshell double deal. It's what we've been calling for.
It's not a secret to anyone that Liverpool are negotiating with Paris Saint-Germain. They're eager to sign Bradley Barcola, a player they've long had on their radar.
Anfield Watch exclusively revealed back in April that Barcola was on the shortlist this summer as a market opportunity. Now, the main target was Yan Diomande but with him off the table, Liverpool pivoted to Barcola.
PSG, knowing this, have set their asking price astronomically high. Liverpool will attempt to talk them down from the €180m mooted but it now sounds like they'll do even more than that.
They're looking to strike a double-deal with PSG. Journalist Fabrice Hawkins reports that the Reds want Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye.
Mbaye has been reported as a certainty to leave PSG for a while now, as he looks to join a club where he can play regularly. It's a move we've been pushing for here at Anfield Watch - Mbaye looks absolutely perfect.
Double-deals aren't exactly common but we feel this is a special case. Barcola and Mbaye can play together and in the style that Liverpool want - direct, dribbling wingers who make things happen.
Something the squad simply lacked last season. Other than, of course, Rio Ngumoha.
And that's where even more excitement comes in. Mbaye and Ngumoha were the two standout wingers in their age bracket last season - the only 17-year-olds to play at least 500 minutes in Europe's top five leagues.
Liverpool want to combine them, while adding an experienced winger who looks destined to be one of the world's best. It's been a slow summer but finally, things are getting exciting.
