Liverpool have their perfect Mo Salah successor. An exciting player just confirmed it with his performance.

There was a deep feeling of disappointment upon the conclusion of the transfer window last summer.

Liverpool went all in on trying to bring in a right-winger towards the final few weeks of the window.

The Reds made a couple of bids for Yankuba Minteh. The Gambian international has been on Liverpool's radar for some time. The Reds thought in the summer because of his injury they could potentially bring him in for a bargain deal.

In the end though, Brighton wanted too much given the fact that Minteh had been ruled out until November. Liverpool may yet revisit their interest.

Although they did try and sign another winger as well.

Liverpool's need to replace Mo Salah

Considering the Reds lost arguably one of the best players in their entire history, there was a bit of desperation to replace Mo Salah this summer.

It was always going to be impossible, but at the very least, Liverpool wanted to bring in a right-sided winger.

So when their attempts to sign Minteh failed, they tried to bring in Ismaila Sarr. Again, that move was unsuccessful. Crystal Palace quoted a very unreasonable fee in excess of £80m for Sarr.

The Senegalese winger wanted to move to Liverpool. But Palace kept their firm asking price, and it made it impossible for Liverpool to bring him to Anfield.

It means the task has now fallen to the club's new sporting director Julian Ward, and there is an obvious candidate who just showed why he could be Salah's successor.

Carlos Forbs just confirmed he is Mo Salah's perfect successor

Nobody is ready to replace a legend like Mo Salah. But Carlos Forbs might just be.

The quick and rapid right-winger who has been written off in the past at Wolverhampton and Ajax, is now one of the best young wingers in Europe.

This week, the 22-year-old yet again for Club Brugge in the Champions League, taking his tally to five goal contributions (two goals and three assists) in four games in the competition.

In total, Forbs has 10 goal contributions in 13 Champions League games. He also has 13 goal contributions in 14 matches this season.

The Portuguese U21 international's brilliant performance in the Champions League yet again this week was a confirmation that he's ready to be the main man in a top team like Liverpool. And thus ready to succeed Salah's legacy at Anfield.

Like Salah, Forbs has been written off but he is on a comeback tour and he is currently one of the best right-wingers in Europe, so making a move for him just makes sense.
