Liverpool have enjoyed great success in signing young talents and turning them into first-team stars.

Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni are two perfect examples from Andoni Iraola's current squad, but the likes of Harvey Elliott and Raheem Sterling show that the Reds have been at this game for quite some time.

There are fewer places that offer a better pathway for wonderkids than Liverpool's Kirkby academy, and the recruitment team at Anfield are now reportedly trying to entice one of the world's most exciting prospects to Merseyside.

A new report has claimed that Liverpool are lining up a move for a generational talent, but they will face tough competition.

Liverpool lining up move for German wonderkid

Wael Mohya has burst onto the scene this season in the Bundesliga, becoming a regular for Borussia Monchengladbach at just 17-year-old and even earning a call up to the German national team managed by Jurgen Klopp.

Having scored two goals and registered one assist already this season, interest is sky high in the teenager, and Liverpool have joined the race.

That's according to a report from TEAMtalk, which claims the Reds are ready to make a move for Mohya, but face competition from several German sides including Bayern Munich.

Brighton are also listed as an interested party for the 17-year-old, whose current deal expires in 2028.

Negotiations are reportedly underway for a new contract, but interest from some of Europe's biggest teams could affect proceedings.

A January move is reportedly unlikely, but the summer could see a massive move for one of Europe's best prospects.

The Anfield faithful will hope that Jurgen Klopp has plenty of good things to say about Liverpool when Mohya joins up with the German national team next week, and a move for the winger could soon be in the works.
