Andoni Iraola has confirmed Liverpool are working on a new signing. They will not do better than one unreal wonderkid.

Andoni Iraola addressed the need for a new winger this week (per Fabrizio Romano) as he confirmed the club are working on a deal. Not that anyone is really sure who it will be for.

Now, we also don’t expect Liverpool to know. Their grand plan this summer was to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig but the player decided he’d prefer to wait for Paris Saint-Germain.

Instead, the Reds must find someone else in what’s a terrible market right now. So bad, in fact, that Liverpool will have to take some sort of gamble on a new winger.

Maybe that means simply signing a tide-over - someone capable of ‘doing a job’ until next summer when they go again. Or perhaps it’s by putting faith in a young player who can develop rapidly.

We’re hoping that player is Ibrahim Mbaye. The Senegalese teenager is available to buy from PSG this summer, says Romano, and we’re not sure there’s a more talented player available.

Especially one who also fits in wonderfully with the current plan. Mbaye is the same age as Rio Ngumoha, plays on the other flank, and boasts similar talent.

In fact, they’re the only two wingers under 18 to have received 500 minutes in the top five European leagues last season. Pairing them up just sounds dangerous.

So as Iraola calls for a signing, it’s Mbaye we’re really wishing for. Liverpool are forced to think outside the box as they aim to replace Mohamed Salah and the teenager is certainly that.

A player with the kind of potential Liverpool want, someone who doesn’t block Ngumoha’s pathway and he’s actually available. Sign him up, LFC.
