Liverpool still have a lot of work to do to their team.

The Anfield outfit have a fair few problem areas among their ranks at the moment and, while Richard Hughes and Andoni Iraola are trying to rectify these, it's unclear whether or not they'll get all the deals done that they need to.

However, since one of Iraola's main goals will be to try and add some silverware to Liverpool's trophy cabinet, these changes are desperately needed.

Several players have been linked with talks about potential deals even being held this week.

However, since the Reds have no more non-homegrown spots available in their squad, some players are going to have to be sold which is why it's rather good news that Liverpool could be about to earn even more money from a future deal.

Cody Gakpo's performance vs Como could add some extra money to his valuation

One of the main Liverpool players to have been linked with a move away this summer is Cody Gakpo.

The Dutchman wasn't in the best run of form last season which led to fans wanting him gone despite the Reds already having a lack of depth in attack.

That is why so many different attackers have been linked with a move this summer.

Tottenham are the team leading the way to sign Gakpo at the moment and, after his performance against Como on Sunday, it feels like the 27-year-old may have just added an extra few million to his valuation.

As per Sofascore, in the 74 minutes that the attacker played, he managed to maintain a pass accuracy of 81 per cent and even created two big chances.

Each of those chances that he created were classed as key passes with 100 per cent of the passes he attempted in his own half making it to where they were supposed to go.

66 per cent of the dribbles that he attempted were successful and, even though he only had 37 touches, he was easily Liverpool's best player.

During the clash, he also managed to get a goal and assist which helped the Reds beat Cesc Fabregas' men 2-0.

Defensively, Gakpo was also fairly solid as he won 100 per cent of the tackles he attempted and only made one foul.

These statistics prove how good the former PSV man is and why Liverpool may be able to earn a few extra pennies if they choose to sell him this summer.

Liverpool are likely to sell Cody Gakpo this summer

Even though Gakpo has just proven that he's still a solid player, the Dutchman just didn't hit the mark last season.

Obviously, one game can't be the judge of a whole campaign but, if he continues playing like that and Liverpool end up selling him, they could end up regretting it.

However, with Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye likely to join the Reds this summer, there's not really going to be any room for Gakpo in L4.

Indeed, he could be kept around as a back-up striker but, when Hugo Ekitike is back in action, it's clear that him and Alexander Isak are both going to be fighting to start for Iraola.

So, this would then mean that Gakpo would be left in the same position.

However, if Hughes can negotiate a fee worth around £60 million - £70 million for Gakpo, it could cover a decent chunk of Barcola's transfer fee and would allow the Reds to sign a player who's four years younger and arguably, already better.

Obviously, there's no knowing what could end up happening but, for now, the Dutchman's exit feels like the most likely outcome.
