Liverpool given green light to sign 57-goal star, Fabrizio Romano confirms it

Richard Hughes and Andoni Iraola still have a lot of work to do to Liverpool's squad.

At the moment, they do have a decent number of players to choose from but, because so many of the Reds' first-team squad are injury-prone, some can't really be classed as genuine options.

For example, Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez both spent most of the 2025-26 season side-lined which meant that they barely played.

So, even though Gomez can play anywhere in defence and Bradley is seen as an option for Liverpool at right-back, if they can't get their injuries under control, it just feels like they're wasting spots in the squad.

That's why someone such as Ronald Araujo has been brought in.

However, their defence isn't the only area of their squad that needs upgrading as their attack is also fairly poor at the moment.

So, the fact that the Anfield outfit have now been given the green-light to sign one of their targets will be music to their ears.

Ferran Torres is on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain, opening the door for a Bradley Barcola exit

One of the main players to have been linked with a Liverpool switch this summer is Bradley Barcola.

The Frenchman may have been the Reds' 2nd choice after Yan Diomande but, since the deal for the Ivorian fell through, Barcola has been their main target.

However, the main problem with this deal is that he's a left-winger rather than a right-winger which is where Liverpool need to replace Mohamed Salah.

Of course, he's been used there by Luis Enrique on multiple occasions and, the fact that he's scored 57 goals throughout his career all point towards him being able to fill the void.

So, on the face of things, everything should work out and, even when he's played against Liverpool, you can tell he's a top class player.

However, since Paris Saint-Germain are demanding so much money for him, a deal hasn't been struck yet.

That is, until this latest update from Fabrizio Romano emerged which could open the door to the transfer.

"BREAKING: Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain, HERE WE GO," he wrote.

"Deal confirmed for World Cup final hero as Barça receive a fee worth €50m from PSG.

"Ferran only wanted Paris and the agreement has been sealed after being at final stages for several days. All done."

Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye are the only attackers Liverpool should try and sign

At the moment, the market is very inflated.

Morgan Rogers and Elliott Anderson have both been sold for over £115 million each and PSG are demanding way over £100 million for Barcola.

But, in reality, Liverpool are probably the ones to blame for this. Last season they spent £116 million on Florian Wirtz and then another £125 million on Alexander Isak which, looking back, were massive overpayments.

So, even though Mbaye and Barcola could end up costing Liverpool a combined total of over £150 million, at the moment, they seem like the best options they have available.

Indeed, the fact that Mbaye is only 18 years old is also massively helpful as it means that Liverpool won't need to register him and, when they do, he'll be homegrown anyway.

Here's hoping that over the next couple of weeks, these deals get done.
