Fabrizio Romano confirms bombshell Liverpool deal has moved closer

A bombshell Liverpool transfer has just taken a major step closer. Fabrizio Romano confirms the news.

Liverpool have a few weeks remaining and then the transfer window closes and their squad is locked in. But ridiculously, that squad could look like just about anything at this point.

We fully expect both incomings and outgoings, potentially high-profile in each direction. Liverpool have simply been slow to get things together, relying heavily on domino effects.

One such effect is for Curtis Jones, who has been heavily linked with Inter this year. That links started back in January and now that he's got just one year remaining on his contract, they've kicked into overdrive.

But Inter have thus far failed to meet Liverpool's asking price. It's not even a particularly high asking price, sitting at around €35m, and it's felt for a while like Jones would simply run his contract down this season.

Maybe not, though. Inter feel they can get that deal done at €35m, especially after moving on Davide Frattesi to Lazio. That deal frees up space as well as cash - and that could make all the difference.

Fabrizio Romano moved to confirm the situation on Twitter, saying that there's increased optimism that a deal can get done here.

"Inter mantain Curtis Jones as priority target since May and now feel deal could happen with Liverpool at €35m fee," he writes.

"There’s still no green light to new bid until Davide Frattesi’s exit but Inter definitely will try again for Curtis before the window ends."

We're not happy to see Jones leave the club, especially for such a low fee. He's a player who never really got the golden opportunity to shine at Liverpool that he really should have done, instead playing more of a covering squad role under Arne Slot.

Inter see more value in him and honestly, they're probably right to. There are a couple of weeks to go here and we ultimately think this deal will be signed off.
