Liverpool given green light to sign 39-goal sensation after rivals turn attention elsewhere

Liverpool have still got a lot of things to sort out with their squad this summer.

The Anfield outfit have already undergone some massive changes with four of their first-team squad from last season already exiting.

Some new players have obviously been brought in but, at the moment, it's unclear how much of a difference they're going to make.

That's why the Reds' fanbase are still demanding that changes are made to their squad because, if they don't bring a few new players in, some serious questions will need to be asked.

Sunday's 2-2 draw against Newcastle proved that many more signings are needed before Andoni Iraola's men are ready to challenge for silverware again.

But, with how competitive the market is at the moment, it wouldn't be surprising to see some of Liverpool's targets be prised away from their grasp.

However, that could all be about to change as one of their Premier League rivals seems to have turned their attention away from one of the Reds' long-term targets.

Arsenal are now eyeing a move for Julian Alvarez which could take their focus away from Bradley Barcola

Almost every Premier League team has tried to upgrade their attack this summer.

For example, Liverpool have welcomed Victor Munoz to L4 while Chelsea have added Morgan Rogers to their ranks.

Obviously, the quality of those two players is drastically different which is why it feels like Liverpool need to step up their recruitment a bit.

Bradley Barcola is their main target at the moment but, with how long negotiations have dragged on for, it's unclear whether a deal for the Frenchman will even be struck with other teams such as Arsenal also interested in signing him.

However, thanks to a fresh update from Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool may have just been given the green light to sign him as the Gunners now seem to be focusing on a deal for Julian Alvarez instead.

"Arsenal remain attentive to Julián Álvarez situation and internal feeling is they can reach an agreement with Atlético on the fee," he wrote.

"But Arsenal will only bid if Julián decides to open doors to the move: his stance will be the key factor.

"So far, Julián only wanted Barcelona."

Obviously, Barcola isn't a natural right-winger so calling him a perfect replacement for Salah could be stretching it a bit.

However, his pedigree in the game isn't anything to be looked down upon.

He's helped Paris Saint-Germain win the Champions League twice in a row and, during his time with the club, he's scored 39 goals.

The fact that he's only 23 is also a massive bonus as it means, even though he's already a solid player, there's still room for him to grow into an even better one.

Barcola's quality coupled with his keen eye for goal and his potential are all things that Liverpool need to add to their attack this summer.

The players that Iraola has at the moment will be able to do a decent enough job but, if he wants to add some more trophies to Liverpool's cabinet, Richard Hughes needs to get deals for attackers such as Barcola over the line as soon as he can.

There's only a week left of the transfer window now so, any deals that they want to make, need to be completed as soon as possible otherwise, they'll end up missing out on their targets and they could even end up worse off than they were last term.
