Liverpool bid imminent, could break record

Liverpool are to make a massive bid imminently. It's one that could break their transfer record.

Liverpool are expected to make another bid this week for Bradley Barcola. The Reds are running out of time to get the deal over the line, having been working on it for months.

Anfield Watch first reported on Liverpool's interest in Barcola back in April. Their initial top target was Yan Diomande but the Frenchman was always viewed as a market opportunity this summer.

However, Pair Saint-Germain have proven difficult to bargain with. They've stuck to enormous price-tags for their winger and Barcola won't leave them for a small fee.

Or even a medium-sized fee. It's going to be a large one and Liverpool will potentially break their transfer record to get this one over the line. If PSG do indeed get their way.

Journalist Nicolo Schira confirms that a bid is expected imminently. Now, whether that comes before or after an offer for Yankuba Minteh we're unsure - the Reds are certainly pushing to sign him, too.

But it would be both. Liverpool are going to try a massive late-window spend in an attempt to fix the holes in their squad, though it's anyone's guess whether they'll be successful in that.

PSG aren't budging with Barcola. Liverpool do in fact have limited funds with which to make a deal happen. At the same time, the Reds are aware by now that they're simply not signing this player without a mega-bid.

That bid will come this week and we can't wait to see exactly how far Liverpool will go with it. There is every chance that it eclipses the record-breaking move for Alexander Isak last summer, and it'll certainly be the most - by far - that they've ever spent on a winger.
