Andoni Iraola has a lot to work out after becoming Liverpool's new head coach.

The Spaniard may have done a more than impressive job as Bournemouth's manager but, with the size difference of both teams taken into consideration, there's going to be a lot for him to try and figure out with Richard Hughes.

After the performances that Liverpool's first-team squad put in over the last couple of months, it's clear that some new faces are going to be needed.

There are several players who have already made their way onto the Reds' shortlist and now, the club have just been given some excellent news about one of their potential targets.

Abde Ezzalzouli could miss the World Cup through injury

Abde Ezzalzouli is almost certainly an attacker that most Liverpool fans won't have heard of.

However, the Morocco international has been setting La Liga alight this term with his dazzling performances which have piqued the interest of the Reds.

He's helped lead Real Betis to a fifth-placed finish and was expected to be a major part of Morocco's plans at the World Cup.

However, a fresh update from journalist Hanif Ben Berkane has nipped that in the bud after the latest update he shared.

"Initial examinations of Abde Ezzalzouli indicate a sprain of the internal knee ligament," he wrote via his personal X account.

"He is likely to be OUT for the World Cup. Further examinations will take place, but he should miss 3-4 weeks of competition.

"A huge blow for Morocco."

Why Abde Ezzalzouli's injury could be a good thing for Liverpool

Even though nobody would ever wish injuries on a player, for Liverpool, it could actually be a good thing.

Ezzalzouli's performances in AFCON were fairly impressive with his contribution helping Morocco become the Champions.

The attacker is only 24 years old and, even though he's only been used as a left-winger this term, he has been used as a striker and a right-winger in the past.

He's scored 15 goals and assisted his teammates on 13 occasions which proves how good he actually is.

And, if he ended up having an impressive performance in the World Cup, his price could've been boosted up massively.

But, since he may not be able to feature, Betis will have to base their valuation on his performances across the season rather than the World Cup.

Of course, a transfer could still end up costing Iraola and Hughes around €60 million but it won't get any higher than that now he's out.

And, with several members of their squad, such as Mohamed Salah being moved on, €60 million doesn't feel all that expensive, especially since he's only going to get better.
