Liverpool get revenge on Real Madrid after major transfer update emerges
Liverpool and Real Madrid are two of the biggest football clubs in the world.
Both teams have won the Champions League multiple times and, every season, they both seem to be interested in a similar level of player.
Recently, Real Madrid have been getting one over Liverpool for as long as many can remember with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate both joining the La Liga outfit for nothing.
To make things worse, these moves have come within one year of each other which shows how on it the club actually are.
Since Alexander-Arnold's exit last summer, Liverpool's fanbase have wanted to get Real Madrid back for what they did and now, it finally feels like that could be happening.
Alexis Mac Allister is one of Real Madrid's dream transfer targets this summer
Although Alexis Mac Allister has been one of Liverpool's best midfielders over the last few years, during the 2025-26 season, he has been awful.
Of course, there have been times when he's performed like his usual self but, more often than not, he's left his teammates out in the cold due to his inability to run.
Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones have often had to pick up the pieces and cover even more ground than they usually would just to make the difference up.
But, despite this lack of form, according to Madrid Xtra, Real are still interested in signing him this summer.
"The ideal recruitment plan internally would be: Vitinha, William Saliba, Alexis Mac Allister and Erling Haaland," they wrote.
"Saliba is particularly appreciated and Real Madrid have long believed he would be open to joining. Madrid is considered his dream destination by many people around the situation.
"Madrid’s dream market is ambitious, with Vitinha, Saliba, Mac Allister and Haaland all named by Aouna.
"Saliba stands out from that list. Aouna says Madrid have long appreciated him and believe he would be open to joining, with people around the situation considering Madrid his dream destination.
"The dream list is separate from the most advanced cases."
Liverpool would get revenge on Real Madrid by selling them a below-par Alexis Mac Allister
In terms of depth, Liverpool's midfield was their most stacked area during the 2025-26 season.
In fact, they had that many midfielders that Jones was often left on the sidelines despite being one of the Reds' best players when called upon.
However, since players such as Mac Allister and even Ryan Gravenberch performed below par, it's clear that some new faces are needed to help boost their chance of winning some silverware again.
And, since Liverpool are a sell-to-buy club, they'll have to make some sacrifices of their own such as selling Mac Allister.
But, if they manage to get the reported £85 million that they want for him, they'd almost certainly be getting revenge on Real.
Mac Allister is 27 years old now and, even though he has a few more years left in his prime, now feels like an ideal time to part ways, especially since he only contributed to six Premier League goals.
