Curtis Jones' Liverpool future has been up in the air for some time now.

The Englishman was hardly used by Arne Slot and, when he was, he was often used out of position.

And, even though the 25-year-old did a solid job when used at right-back, it was clear that his playing style was much better suited to being a midfielder.

Despite this, others such as Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch were chosen over Jones which led to the scouser seeking an exit in January.

Indeed, the Reds blocked this move but, since his situation didn't change in the second-half of the season, Inter Milan's interest has been peaked once again.

Since then, however, Slot has been relieved of his duties and now, Jones' future remains in the balance.

Curtis Jones may have changed his mind about exiting Liverpool

Seeing as though Liverpool's midfield is their most stacked area at the moment, it's unsurprising to see at least one of them become unhappy.

However, the fact that it was Jones who got left on the sidelines is mind-boggling.

Every time the Englishman was on the pitch, he was arguably one of Liverpool's best players with his work rate only being matched by Dominik Szoboszlai.

Despite this, Mac Allister and Gravenberch were still some of the first names on Slot's team sheet which led to Jones believing he had no future at the club.

But, as per a fresh update from journalist David Lynch, now that Slot is gone, the midfielder may have changed his mind about where he sees his future heading.

"I wouldn't give odds! Before the Slot decision he was nailed on to go if Inter stumped up the funds," he wrote while replying to a Liverpool fan on X.

"Now, it all depends on what's in his head and I definitely don't have access to that!"

Curtis Jones could be Liverpool's midfield leader if given the chance

Andoni Iraola looks likely to be the next Liverpool manager.

The Spaniard has done a stellar job during his time with Bournemouth and has even managed to earn them qualification to the Europa League.

His ability to get the best out of any player no matter what is a skill that not all managers have.

And, the fact that his tactics are heavily based around pressing make him the ideal manager for Jones' style of play.

He'd never stop running for the Spaniard and, his ability to both defend and attack are key in this day and age.

Liverpool have many players to sign this summer and, if they can keep Jones around and extend his contract, it would give them one less position to worry about, especially since money is probably going to be a bit tighter than last term.

At the end of the day, the final decision is up to Jones but, from an outside view, it feels like he'd be silly to quit now, especially with Iraola becoming the favourite to take over.
