Liverpool duo told they won’t get any game time, they have to exit Anfield

Liverpool now have less than a month left of the 2026-27 summer transfer window.

Fans were expecting there to be plenty of noticeable change by now but, only Victor Munoz has been brought in so far.

And, even though the rumour mill is going into overdrive, it's still unclear which players are actually going to be brought in this summer.

Bradley Barcola and Ibrahima Mbaye are the two who seem to be the most likely to join at the moment but, for these moves to make financial sense, some players are obviously going to have to exit.

And now, two of the Reds' players seem destined to make the move away from Anfield.

Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa are going to 'struggle' for game time if they stay at Liverpool

Liverpool are massively lacking depth among their first-team squad at the moment.

Among other things, injuries are really crippling the Reds with some of their best players such as Hugo Ekitike and Conor Bradley not expected to return until at least the New Year.

Despite this, since the Reds are a sell to buy club, some members of their team are going to have to be moved on if Liverpool want to make all the transfers that they need to.

Many of Iraola's men have been rumoured to be on their way out of Anfield and now, as per a fresh update from The Athletic, it seems like two Liverpool players have been told to pack their bags.

"There are the curious cases of Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa," they wrote.

"Both say they’re happy at the club, but unless Andoni Iraola sees something others have missed, they’re likely going to struggle for game time and may need to move on to further their careers."

At the moment, Liverpool need to sign players, rather than get rid of them.

Their squad depth is at an all-time low and, with how unlucky they were with injuries last season, it feels like the same could happen again.

Indeed, several members of their squad are now back to full fitness but, with Joe Gomez, Ekitike, Giovanni Leoni, Jeremy Jacquet and Bradley all side-lined, there are barely any players for Iraola to choose from.

Both Chiesa and Elliott have said that they're happy to stay and, since their new manager is treating every player as if they're a new signing, they'll both have the opportunity to prove their worth.

However, since Slot barely played Chiesa and sent Elliott away, it's unclear whether it'll actually end up working out for them or not.

Unless Liverpool have some decent deals lined up or know that some of their youth players can fill the voids that Chiesa and Elliott leave behind, it doesn't feel like they can really afford to lose either of them.

That is, especially since no new signings aside from Barcola and Mbaye are lined up.
