Frozen Man City could give up world-class star to Liverpool
Manchester City could miss out on a sensational talent to Liverpool if they continue to freeze. They're not sure what to do.
Liverpool need a winger and will now have to find an alternative to Yan Diomande. The Ivorian has chosen Paris Saint-Germain, forcing the Reds to pivot from their priority signing.
But that's not all they need. Richard Hughes and company must also find a new midfielder - preferably one who can actually win tackles in the middle of the pitch.
And it appears there's no better option than Ayyoub Bouaddi. The teenager has been a revelation for Lille this season and appears to have moved up another level at the World Cup.
Putting in elite defensive midfield performances at 18 is incredible. Doing it in the World Cup against Brazil and the Netherlands? That's genuinely sensational and the stir Bouaddi has caused is something else.
We've said before that we'd love for Liverpool to sign the player. It's also been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano that the Reds have made initial contact about a move.
But it's also been said that City want to wait for 2027 before signing Bouaddi. That should give Liverpool confidence and we'd say they can take even more confidence by the Athletic reporting that City aren't sure what to do next.
They're apparently figuring that out but their interest in signing Bouaddi is apparently also influenced by a desire to sign Sandro Tonali. They're interested in the Italian but feat he's joining Tottenham Hotspur instead.
Until that one's sorted, they aren't going to be all-in on Bouaddi. That should hand the initiative to other clubs, including Liverpool, who can commit to signing the Moroccan right now.
We already feel they're in a good position to signing him. Couple that with City not being entirely sure who they're moving for and Liverpool may even be able to feel confident.
