€50m Liverpool offer rejected, even player himself said no

Liverpool saw a €50m offer rejected, according to reports. Even the player himself said no to the Reds.

Liverpool tried very hard to find a new winger in the transfer window. Their requirement was specific: he must play on the right. Now, that doesn't sound too specific given nearly every club plays with a right-sided winger but the market in the summer was truly awful.

That led to offers for real gambles like Ismaila Sarr, who typically plays centrally as it is, and Yankuba Minteh, who's out for months. Liverpool were taking risks, offering big money for players who didn't seem to really fit the gameplan.

Even more incredibly, they were willing to sell Cody Gakpo to sanction all of this. Just a mess, really, and one that reflects terribly on former sporting director Richard Hughes.

And it turns out there was another offer - but one that was rejected.

Liverpool made Francisco Conceicao offer

TuttoMercatoWeb claims Liverpool made a €50m offer for Juventus winger Francisco Conceicao. The Portugal star was linked with the Reds, especially at the start of the window, but never actually left Turin.

Well, the report here suggests that both Juventus and Conceicao decided to reject Liverpool. The player himself didn't fancy the move - something that goes against all of that early reporting.

And it does make you wonder what was promised to him. Did Liverpool just refuse to guarantee him a starting role? They certainly could have offered more money and a higher profile, given the Premier League's wealth and exposure.

Still, Conceicao said no and decided to stick where he is. The suggestion here in TMW is that this was a mistake - he's started the season poorly and could well leave next summer as Juventus aren't thrilled with his performances right now.

There's time to correct that, of course, but it'll be interesting to see if Liverpool find themselves going back in for him in 2027.
