Richard Hughes must act fast as agents of 'outstanding' star set to talk with Euro giants
Richard Hughes may be exiting Liverpool at the end of the 2026-27 summer transfer window but that doesn't mean that he can just sit back and relax.
The Englishman was at the forefront of the Reds' business last summer where the club spent over £450 million on new players.
Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz were expected to keep things on the up and potentially help win the Reds another Premier League title but, in reality, that was far from the case.
This has led to Liverpool needing several new players added to their ranks which means that, since the 2025-26 season came to an end, their net has been cast far and wide regarding which players they want to target.
Indeed, some deals for players such as Yan Diomande and Denzel Dumfries have already fallen through but, with so much of the summer transfer window still to go, a lot can change.
But, since clubs will want to get all of their players on the same page and performing well with one another, the sooner that deals get done, the better.
So, if Hughes is wanting to get a deal for one of his long-term targets over the line, he'll need to be quick, especially after the latest update to emerge from Italy.
Crysencio Summerville's agents are set to speak to AS Roma about a potential move
Liverpool's attack is one of their main areas that needs sorting.
Mohamed Salah has left and, even though Victor Munoz has been brought in, the Reds still need some extra firepower added to their ranks.
Several attackers have been linked with potential moves and, since the futures of Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott are still unknown, Liverpool could end up with even less options up front.
So, the fact that several attackers have already been linked with a Liverpool switch is fairly promising.
However, as per a fresh update from Gianluca di Marzio, if Liverpool are wanting to sign Crysencio Summerville before the 2026-27 season kicks off, they'll have to move rather quickly.
"And then there's the Summerville issue, which I discussed last night on Calciomercato L'Originale," he wrote.
"There's one more detail: Summerville's agents are already in Rome. Why? Because they're the same agents as Danilo Doekhi, the central defender recently signed by Lazio, who was also close to joining Roma in the past.
"The Dutch agents of the two players are in Rome to finalize Doekhi's contracts with Lazio and will most likely meet with Roma today regarding Summerville."
Liverpool have been admirers of Crysencio Summerville for a while now
After West Ham United were relegated to the Championship, everyone knew that they'd be having a massive clear out.
Mateus Fernandes has joined Tottenham for £85 million and several other members of their squad, including Summerville, have also been linked with an exit.
Most people expected Jarrod Bowen to be one of the many players to leave with Anfield feeling like his most likely destination.
However, talk of the Hammers' captain leaving has died down and now, it feels like Summerville could be the first of their wingers to leave.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Dutchman for a little while now and, even though he'd be another left-winger, it feels like he'd be a solid addition.
In the past, his former managers have called him an 'outstanding' player and, since he contributed to 12 goals across all competitions last term, it's clear that he has a bit of quality about him.
There's a lot of time left in the window for things to change of course but, for now, it feels like the Reds need to decide whether or not they want Summerville before it's too late.
