£25m wing wizard confirms he's ready to join Liverpool
Mohamed Salah is gone and Hugo Ekitike is out injured until at least 2027.
This leaves Liverpool with Alexander Isak, Federico Chiesa, Victor Munoz, Cody Gakpo and Rio Nguomha as their attacking options.
Of those five players, only one of them can play on the right-wing and, since he's barely played any football over the last couple of years that he's been at Anfield, he's now looking for a way out.
This would mean that someone such as Jeremie Frimpong or Dominik Szoboszlai would be the Reds' only right-winger which, for a team who want to be competing for trophies, is far from ideal.
That's why Richard Hughes adding a couple of new attackers to Andoni Iraola's ranks this summer is essential.
So, the fact that one of their reported targets has confirmed that he's ready to join the Anfield outfit is a massive bonus.
Andreas Schjelderup is ready to make the step-up to Liverpool
Liverpool have already been linked with a tonne of attackers this summer.
Some of them have been versatile players who can play across the front three and some specialise in specific areas of the pitch.
However, one player who has been consistently mentioned is Andreas Schjelderup.
The Norway international can play across the front three and had a regular role within Jose Mourinho's Benfica squad last term.
In the 43 games he played for Mourinho, he contributed to 17 goals across all competitions and, thanks to those performances, he got called up to Norway's 2026 World Cup squad.
This call up has led to him being used in each of their games and, in their most recent tie against Brazil, the attacker more than confirmed that he was ready to become a Premier League player.
Norway managed to get to the knockout stages of the World Cup after spending 28 years away from the tournament.
And, in their round of 32 clash against Brazil, they did not disappoint as they beat the South American country 2-1.
Erling Haaland was the man who put the ball into the back of the net on both occasions, but, without both of the assists that Schjelderup provided, he wouldn't have got into those goal-scoring positions.
Schjelderup's ability to beat his man is second-to-none and his ability to perfectly ping a ball into the box from the by-line is exactly what Liverpool need from their attackers.
So, the fact that the club are interested in acquiring his services makes a lot of sense.
How much Andreas Schjelderup would cost Liverpool to sign
By trade, much like most of the Reds' other attackers, Schjelderup is a left-winger.
The Norway international has played most of his games on the left-hand side of the attack but, there have also been times when he's been used on the right.
Being right-footed, he's obviously better suited on the left so that he can cut in but, if the Reds are wanting to sign creators so that others such as Isak and Ekitike can score the goals, a move for Schjelderup makes a lot of sense.
Also, Benfica only want around €30 million (£25.6 million) to allow him to exit this summer.
Of course, if Norway beat England and Schjelderup plays a part in it, their asking price may change again but, compared to some of the other quotes they've been given for players, the 22-year-old seems like the most valid option for them to pursue.
