Liverpool all but confirm second £70m deal to follow Bradley Barcola

Liverpool have almost certainly confirmed a second deal after Bradley Barcola. The Frenchman's arrival is a bombshell.

Liverpool have agreed a deal for Bradley Barcola. The Frenchman is to join from Paris Saint-Germain in a massive move, costing the Reds a guaranteed £100m.

That's a sizeable amount and it could go further. There's potential for this one to reach £120m if add-ons are met - and we're obviously hoping they will be.

The Reds have pushed for Barcola all summer, ever since failing to land Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig. PSG set an incredibly high asking price accordingly and while Liverpool have somewhat talked them down, they're still paying the most they've ever paid for a player outside the Premier League.

In other words, their second-biggest signing.

This one has other repercussions, though. Barcola, after all, joins as a left-winger in a very, very crowded space. The Reds boast Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha, and Victor Munoz as natural options on that flank, so the Frenchman makes it four.

But we doubt that remains the case. Signing Barcola for that kind of money is a sign that he's the no.1 choice and a massive sign that Gakpo will be leaving the club.

Liverpool set an asking price this summer, as exclusively revealed by Anfield Watch, and Tottenham Hotspur are very interested. Gakpo was never moving anywhere unless a replacement came in and now that's done - paving the way for him to depart.

There is essentially no chance that he now remains at the club with Barcola. Liverpool can't afford that, for one, and desperately need to continue their late spend - the potential £70m for Gakpo goes a long way to sealing more deals.
