Future of ‘exceptional’ Liverpool star confirmed, he’s played his last game at Anfield

Andoni Iraola and Richard Hughes still have a lot of work to do on Liverpool's squad before the transfer window slams shut.

Admittedly, they're now on the cusp of confirming a deal for Bradley Barcola which will instantly improve their attack.

However, the Frenchman can't be the only player that they bring in before deadline day.

There are several areas among their ranks that could still do with upgrading and, without these additions, it's hard to see how the Anfield outfit will do any better than they did last term.

Obviously, Iraola's style of football will probably help get the best out of his current crop of players but, without at least some new additions, it's hard to see how things are going to get any better for the Reds.

However, this lack of arrivals hasn't stopped Liverpool from selling some members of their squad with one Liverpool star potentially already playing his last ever game for the club.

Harvey Elliott is ready to join Valencia on loan

Harvey Elliott is a bit of a curious case at Liverpool.

When Jurgen Klopp was at the helm, he was often one of the first names on the Reds' team sheet.

However, after the German exited, Arne Slot rarely ever trusted Elliott which led to him being loaned out to Aston Villa last season.

Many people thought that would be the end of his Liverpool career but, he ended up returning from Villa Park with Iraola willing to give him a chance to prove his worth.

However, he clearly failed to leave his mark as now, the Reds are looking to ship him out once again.

Many different rumours have emerged about his future with Spanish journalist Nacho Sanchis now sharing an update on Elliott's potential move to Valencia.

"Valencia CF is in advanced negotiations with HARVEY ELLIOTT, Liverpool player as Matte Moretto reported," he wrote.

"He is the alternative to Ramazani. Because he would come ON LOAN and without an obligation to buy.

"The player has already given the YES. What VCF has offered him is what convinces him the most."

Harvey Elliott doesn't have a future at Liverpool

When Elliott was first signed by Liverpool, most people were unclear what to expect from the 23-year-old.

However, his season-long loan to Blackburn Rovers proved that he was going to be a fairly decent player.

From that point onwards, he was included in a lot of Klopp's squads and, over the course of his time at Anfield, he's played 149 games for them and contributed to 36 goals across all competitions.

Now that he's gotten older, it's clear that his best position is as a number 10 but, he initially started off as a right-winger with many people expecting him to be Mohamed Salah's deputy for years to come.

Obviously, that didn't happen and, since he's failed to impress Iraola, he's clearly not got a future in L4 anymore.

Elliott is about to be sent out on loan and, if he joins Valencia, the fact that there will be no obligation for them to buy him means that he will end up being a free agent as his contract is set to expire in June 2027.

And, since there has been no talk of him signing a new Liverpool deal, it's clear that the "exceptional" midfielder is longer in their plans.

It's obviously a sad way to see things end but, sometimes, that's just the way that things go and unfortunately for Elliott, he's now only got a season to save his career.
