Liverpool handed major boost as wingers 'dream' destination is revealed
Liverpool need change.
Andoni Iraola is their first step towards doing that with Victor Munoz's arrival also a very welcome sight.
Arne Slot made most fans fall out of love with their team towards the end of the 2025-26 season with hardly any of them believing how badly they'd dropped off compared to the season prior.
Their fifth-place finish was a rather embarrassing attempt at retaining the title which is why the club are now being linked with an abundance of players.
So many areas among Liverpool's ranks still need changing so, that's why it's good to hear that the Anfield outfit have many options to explore on their shortlist.
And, for one of their targets, it feels like the Anfield outfit have just been handed a massive boost to acquire his services.
Andreas Schjelderup's dream destination is the Premier League
Over the last few days, Liverpool have been told that they'll have to pay an obscene amount of money to prise Yan Diomande away from RB Leipzig with the Reds' bid, which was worth around €100m already being turned down.
This knowledge led to several new attackers being linked with a Liverpool move with one of them being Andreas Schjelderup.
The attacker currently plays for Benfica and was a key part of Jose Mourinho's plans towards the end of his time there.
His natural position is on the left-wing but there have been times when he's been used on the right.
And, while Liverpool's interest has already been documented, the stance of the player seems to have just been shared by Portuguese outlet, Record.
"Many want him, but Andreas Schjelderup no longer has any doubts about his preferred destination," they wrote.
"According to Record, the Nordic winger is drawn to the Premier League, where he has dreamed of playing since childhood.
"No decision has been made about his future - especially since the winger is happy in Lisbon - but the pressure is mounting."
Andreas Schjelderup would be an out of the box signing for Liverpool
Liverpool's recent goals with players that they signed have been to make sure that they're good enough to start but also have room to become even better.
Most of the players that Hughes signed for the club last summer were under the age of 23 with a lot of them having their first experience of the Premier League with Liverpool.
Others, such as Alexander Isak were a tad older but, since he'd already proven himself to be one of the best strikers in the top flight, his transfer was more than justified.
Schjelderup is a player that most people won't have heard of but, his 17 goal contributions this season explain why he's on the Reds' radar.
And, since he's only 22 years old there's plenty of time for him to develop into an even better player than he already is.
Also, Benfica only want around €30 million for his services, which, compared to the over €120 million that Lepizig want for Diomande, feels a lot more feasible.
Here's hoping fans have some clarity about their targets soon and that Liverpool can get another deal over the line.
