Opportunity confirmed: Liverpool can sign brilliant Argentine for incredible €35m fee
Liverpool do have a chance to sign a fantastic talent for a bargain fee. That's been confirmed.
As Liverpool try to find their best option in a sub-par right-winger market, they'll likely need to think outside of the box. That's just the reality right now, especially after top-target Yan Diomande decided he'd rather play for Paris Saint-Germain.
One options we've gone on about is Matias Soule, who appears set to leave AS Roma this summer. Roma need money to fund new signings and Soule is one of those they're willing to sacrifice.
That's been the suggestion in the press, certainly, and we believe the reported €35m asking price could be world-beating. Liverpool need a creative outlet who can play from the right and cut in, while the fact Soule can also play behind a striker is a massive bonus.
Throw in his undoubted potential, shown at multiple clubs now, and the 23-year-old seems like a steal. But are Roma really wiling to sell?
It certainly seems that way. Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Monday that Paulo Dybala is to renew his contract with the club, reducing the need for them to hold onto Soule, who largely plays the same position as his compatriot.
That comes across as Roma making their choice between the two: they'd rather cash-in on Soule now, with Dybala continuing to have a key role in their attack.
Well, Liverpool should take advantage. Soule is the kind of player they're after right now and one who, at the very least, can be a solid investment as the Reds look to re-assess the right-winger market next year.
It's one we find it difficult to see going wrong. Soule is absolutely worth that money and potentially far, far more, given some of the valuations thrown around right now.
Time to take the plunge.
