Good news as goalkeeper agrees deal to join Liverpool

The process of identifying the best young British and Irish talent for Liverpool’s youth and underage sides never really stops.

Over the last few years James McConnell, Luca Stephenson and Conor Bradley are just a flavour of the names who have been brought to Merseyside to further their careers.

In more recent seasons Trey Nyoni and especially Rio Ngumoha have demonstrated the kind of pathway which exists for the best young talents around.

Zach Trinder joins Liverpool

Both are fully-fledged members of the first team having joined in their mid-teens with Ngumoha in particular now set for a huge role. Liverpool are back at it this summer - sealing a deal for Celtic’s Dara Jikeimi.

And although the official confirmation is missing the club have also tied up the signing of one of the best young goalkeepers in England.

Trinder one of the best young goalkeepers

Zach Trinder will be making his way to Liverpool this summer according to Lewis Bower after the 2011-born shotstopper left Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“It had been reiterated to me that the process following is now complete and Zach Trinder has now signed for Liverpool,” he writes on X.

Trinder's startling progress

Trinder made his Premier League 2 debut against the Reds back in March aged only 14 and 72 days - keeping a clean sheet in a Wolves victory.

He began the 2025/26 season with the Wolves U15s but his talents could not be contained at that level - graduating to feature for the U16 side at the start of the calendar year.

His progress continued unchecked with multiple appearances on the Wolves PL2 bench at U18 level before getting his first minutes against Liverpool in March. That appearance made him the second-youngest goalkeeper ever to make an appearance at PL2 level.

He is also a fully-fledged England underage squad member - making his bow for the Three Lions’ U15 side at the tail end of 2025.
