€50m France midfielder will be Andoni Iraola's welcome gift
Big changes are coming to the Liverpool midfield this summer.
The outgoing Premier League champions have been relying on the same options for a couple of seasons now. And it’s clear they are getting diminishing returns from some players in the ranks.
Alexis Mac Allister, 28, was far beneath his 2024/25 title-winning best form last season. The Argentine No10 could be sold this summer to accommodate new arrivals - with his contract situation causing trouble.
Mac Allister is out of contract in 2028 but no talks have taken place over a new deal. As such if no agreement is soon offered - and agreed - it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that he will be sold.
And while Ryan Gravenberch hasn’t been at his best either it’s unlikely the 24-year-old will be sold due to his new £277k per week contract.
But Curtis Jones is the subject of increasing interest from Inter Milan with the Italian giants only around €10m away from landing the 25-year-old. The England man is out of contract in 2027 and with no agreement on the horizon for a new deal then he could be off.
Liverpool want to recruit Khephren Thuram
If Jones and Mac Allister are sacrificed then it opens up space for a new player to arrive. The likes of Lamine Camara and Mamadou Sangare have been linked but according to a report emanating from Italy there could be a France international coming to Anfield.
Khephren Thuram, 25, has been with Juventus since summer 2024. The former Nice midfielder has grown from strength to strength in Juve colours since then but could well be offloaded this summer.
Juve missed the Champions League and have to cut their cloth accordingly. Thuram - who missed out on the France FIFA World Cup squad - is seen as an ideal candidate for sale considering his €45m to €50m valuation.
Liverpool want €45m-€50m rated Thuram
Liverpool are in the running for Thuram’s signature once again - having been linked with a move prior to his transfer to Juventus.
Richard Hughes is going to have to hold off interest from Galatasaray - and a very greedy Manchester United who will land Ederson from Atalanta.
“Not only have Galatasaray recently inquired about him, but the midfielder is an option for Liverpool (who are selling Curtis Jones) and Manchester United,” a report reads in TuttoJuve.
“There's no set price for Thuram, but initial discussions could start around €45-50 million.”
Liverpool are known to be big fans of Thuram having competed for his signature once before.
The all-action midfielder has got goals and assists in his game and would add quality on the ball as well as combativeness to a Liverpool midfield that lacked both last season.
