The signing of Barcola completes one of the longest-running summer transfer sagas.

At long last Liverpool wrap up Barcola deal

Ever since Yan Diomande and RB Leipzig rejected Liverpool’s advances Barcola has been the main winger name in the frame.

It’s taken some time to get there - with Richard Hughes eventually lowering the PSG asking price for the two-time Champions League winner.

Barcola - who was signed from Lyon back in 2023 - was under contract at PSG until 2028.

Liverpool to pay Barcola £250k per week

That relatively short duration gave the Anfield side the leverage they needed - reducing the fee from around £145m to just over £120m.

The France international was making around £109k per week in Paris per reports - with no breakthrough for a new deal ever likely to be reached with his employers.

Barcola had slipped down the pecking order behind Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia with Luis Enrique also bringing in Ferran Torres, Mika Godts and Maghnes Akliouche this summer.

Barcola set for 130% pay rise

Liverpool have worked hard to convince the versatile wideman that his future lies at Anfield - with 20min avec Sportune now reporting the salary he will be banking on Merseyside.

Barcola is set to make £250k per week under Andoni Iraola - a significant 130% uplift on his pay packet in the French capital. Over the course of a five-year deal Liverpool have committed around £65m in wages - alongside a transfer fee that could touch £123m.

That is a significant outlay for Barcola - who has been described as a game-changer for the Reds.

He will be catapulted into the top category of earners - alongside Dominik Szoboszlai following his recent contract renewal - but still a long way short of the £400k per week trousered by club captain Virgil van Dijk until his deal expires next summer.
