Liverpool told why they were allowed to buy 57-goal star ahead of Bayern Munich

Liverpool managed to spend over £150 million on new players in the summer.

Ronald Araujo has arguably had the most positive impact on the club so far and, the fact that the Reds are still unbeaten across all competitions is fairly impressive.

Of course, a lot of this is to do with the playing style that Andoni Iraola has brought to Anfield but, since the players haven't fully adjusted to that yet, there could be even more improvements on their way to L4.

This is a rather exciting thought and, since there are still a couple of areas among their ranks that could do with being upgraded, improvement is a real possibility.

However, with the deals that Liverpool have already struck, they will have obviously faced plenty of competition so, the fact that they managed to bring four new players in is fairly impressive with one of their rivals even admitting defeat for one of their main targets.

Bradley Barcola was too expensive for Bayern Munich to buy this summer

Bradley Barcola was undoubtedly Liverpool's marquee signing of the summer.

The Frenchman only had two years left on his deal with PSG which made many people believe that he'd be available for a cut-rate fee.

However, that was far from the case with the Reds spending around £123 million on the attacker.

Of course, before Liverpool confirmed the deal, other teams such as Bayern Munich threw their hat into the ring for a potential deal.

But, thanks to an update from Christian Falk, we now know why that never came to fruition.

"Max Eberl said Bayern tried to get cover in for the Colombian, but every alternative available on the market was too expensive, as we’ve discussed previously," he said.

"Bradley Barcola, for instance, who is rated very highly in Munich, was simply too expensive, and ultimately he decided for Liverpool."

Liverpool will be hoping that Bradley Barcola can fill the void left by Mohamed Salah

The biggest-named player to exit Anfield this summer was Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian King terminated his contract a year early after his many fallings out with Arne Slot.

If Fenway Sports Group chose to replace Slot before Salah decided on exiting, he'd probably still be a Liverpool player.

And, even though he'd be costing them around £400,000-per-week, he's probably still be better than having no natural right-winger among their ranks at all.

However, since that was never an option, Liverpool have had to find multiple players to help cover the void left by Salah.

That's why, once Barcola gets settled in and gets back to his best, the Reds' fanbase will be hoping for big things from the Frenchman.

Over the course of his career, Barcola has scored 57 goals and, although he's not managed to net his first one for Liverpool yet, as soon as he does, it feels like there's going to be an entirely new era taking over L4.
