Liverpool star could leave Anfield for less than €10m
Liverpool have been surrounded by transfer rumours for a while now.
The Anfield outfit signed four new players in the summer and, even though each of them have had a decent impact on Liverpool since their arrivals, more new players are needed.
On the face of things, Liverpool's starting XI looks like one of the best in the world but, as soon as injuries hit them, they're not in the best shape.
That has been proven by the recent injuries suffered by Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo as, ahead of their game against Manchester City on Sunday, the Reds no longer have a natural number nine to lead their attack.
However, despite all these playing being linked with a Liverpool move, some are also rumoured to be on their way out with a fresh update now emerging on one of Andoni Iraola's most important players.
Galatasaray believe they'll be able to sign Virgil van Dijk for less than €10 million in January
One Liverpool player who's future has been heavily discussed is Virgil van Dijk.
The Dutchman has now entered the final year of his contract with the club and, although he's still one of their most important players, the Reds seem to be undecided about what they should do about his future.
If you asked almost any Liverpool fan, they'd tell their club to extend Van Dijk's contract no matter what.
However, since he's now 35 years old, it's unclear how much longer he'll be able to warrant his massive £400,000-per-week wages.
So, with this in mind, the latest update from Turkish outlet Fotomac should be taken rather seriously.
"Galatasaray's defense has failed to find its rhythm this season. Not only has the team's defense declined, but individual performances for the yellow-reds have also been very poor," they wrote.
"Galatasaray will definitely strengthen their defense during the January transfer window. The name on the agenda is Virgil van Dijk, who plays for Liverpool.
"The 35-year-old footballer's contract with the English team expires at the end of the season. Liverpool is undecided about whether to offer the Dutch defender a new contract.
"Galatasaray wants to take advantage of Liverpool's indecision and bring him to the club. It is rumored that the deal will be completed for a transfer fee under 10 million euros. 10 million euros will be given to Virgil Van Dijk."
Liverpool can't let Virgil van Dijk leave in January
One of the main things that Liverpool tried to upgrade during the summer was their defence.
Fortunately, they managed to do that by adding Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo to their ranks but, if Liverpool just let Van Dijk go, they'd end up back at square one.
Van Dijk is still one of Iraola's most important players and, without him leading the team, it's unclear whether they'd perform as well as they have done.
And, even though Jacquet is probably one of the best young centre-backs in the world, Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni are nowhere near as good as the Dutchman so, the Frenchman probably wouldn't play as well as he has either.
At the moment, its genuinely anyone's guess what could happen but, one thing is for sure, Liverpool can't sell Van Dijk in the January window, no matter what.
Because, if they did, they'd have hardly any time to replace him and would only get a small fee for his services.
