The Premier League is often one of the busiest leagues in the world for transfers.

They have the most money of any other league in the world and they also have some of the biggest teams in the world.

Liverpool are one of them and, even though during Jurgen Klopp's era they never really splashed the cash, last summer, that all changed.

Arne Slot and Richard Hughes were handed a huge war chest to set the Anfield outfit up for the next couple of years but, after finishing fifth in the Premier League, they failed miserably.

And, now that three of their first-team regulars have exited for nothing, even more change is on the way which is why every other day a new player pops up as a potential target for the Anfield outfit with yet another option now appearing on the Reds' radar.

Liverpool have made an enquiry about Bruno Guimaraes

Now that Alexander Isak has exited Newcastle United, Bruno Guimaraes is probably classed as their best player.

The Brazilian is Eddie Howe's captain but, since the Magpies don't have any European football this season, rumours about where the midfielders future lies have emerged.

Guimaraes is arguably one of the Premier League's best midfielders and, since he's only 28 years old, he still has a fair few years left at the top.

Arsenal are reportedly the ones leading the chase for him but, since Liverpool are trying to revamp their own midfield, it seems like they've now been brought into the transfer battle.

That is, if an update from Ben Jacobs via Redmen TV is to be believed.

"With Adam Wharton, we reported probably six months ago that Liverpool were looking at that deal," he said.

"He was on their radar. They wanted to understand the conditions behind it. But my understanding is at the moment nothing is moving forwards there and Liverpool, if they do strengthen in central midfield, will have other targets in mind.

"There was a initial inquiry on the player side with Bruno Guimaraes, and we know in the last 24/48 hours, Arsenal are the ones that have actually put a number over his head. Liverpool just did what Manchester United did months back rather than now, they spoke with the agent and that was it.

"So I'm not aware that they're progressing there either."

Bruno Guimaraes would be an incredible signing for Liverpool

Over the last year or so, Liverpool have forced themselves to become Newcastle's rival.

This obviously wasn't intentional but, after the Reds signed Hugo Ekitike and Isak last summer, the Magpies' season was completely derailed.

Ekitike was seen as Newcastle's perfect successor to Isak but, since the Reds wanted two number nines, they took him away from Newcastle before even signing Isak.

This led to them signing Nick Woltemade and Yoanne Wissa who have both failed to prove their worth.

As mentioned, this lack of form has led to Newcastle finishing outside of the European places and, even though they've only just moved Anthony Gordon on, Sandro Tonali and Guimaraes could both be on their way out.

Guimaraes would perfectly suit Andoni Iraola's system and, since he already has a tonne of Premier League experience, it would be a simple transition for him.

He'd also be a perfect replacement for Alexis Mac Allister who, after the form he showed last term, could end up being sent to pack his bags this summer.

There are so many variables still at play but, the fact that Liverpool enquired about Guimaraes and found out he has a £100 million release clause proves that they are on the prowl for new talent, no matter how much they'll cost.
