Liverpool are now ready to sanction the exit of one long-serving player.

Liverpool will inevitably have to say goodbye to some of their true legends this summer. At least, that's where things are heading.

Andy Robertson looks like the most certain. He nearly left Liverpool in the winter window but a lack of depth at Anfield prevented a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

His contract expires in the summer, though. The club look highly unlikely to offer him a new one at this stage and we imagine there will be a difficult goodbye at the end of the campaign.

Ibrahima Konate may well join him in that. The Frenchman's contract also expires and Liverpool are struggling to find terms on a new one.

Then there's Mo Salah. The Egyptian is heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia after a tough season. He'll enter the final year of his deal in the summer - and may decide the time is right to disappear.

Joe Gomez to say goodbye

Joe Gomez is currently Liverpool's longest-serving player but it does seem as though he'll leave the club at the end of the season. Gomez will enter the final year of his contract, too, after very nearly leaving last summer.

The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool are ready to say goodbye. They won't stand in Gomez's way if he wants to move on and will sanction a transfer.

That would call an end to 11 years at the club. Gomez arrived as a teenage defender from Charlton Athletic and has grown into an elite defender - just one also blighted by injuries.

What an 11 years they've been, though. He's helped the Reds to every major trophy, playing a vital role as a starting centre-back in one of the greatest title campaigns English football has ever seen back in 2019/20.

It'll be an emotional goodbye - but one that seems very likely.
