Liverpool have to spend more than €50m to sign Curtis Jones’ successor

Curtis Jones' future is still undecided.

The Englishman looked to be on his way out of Anfield at the end of last season but, since Arne Slot was replaced by Andoni Iraola, nobody actually knows how things are going to pan out.

Last term, Jones was isolated out of Slot's plans with other players such as Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch both being chosen over him despite their poor form.

And, even when the Englishman was used by his manager, he was often played out of position as a right-back.

Indeed, he may have performed fairly well when used there but, it's clear that he's much better off when used in the centre of the park.

Jones' playing style is perfectly suited to Iraola's but, that sometimes still isn't going to be enough to keep him around which is why Liverpool need to keep their eyes peeled for his successor.

And now, one of their potential options to succeed the 25-year-old may end up costing them an arm and a leg.

There are now only a few weeks left of the summer transfer window.

At the moment, it's unclear whether Liverpool have actually strengthened their ranks despite bringing three new players in.

So, the fact that they are still being linked with new players makes a lot of sense.

Many areas among their ranks still need upgrading which is why they can't be counted out of any deals until the window slams shut.

However, for some of their targets, they're seemingly going to have to spend a bit more than they first expected, that is, especially if the latest update from journalist Pete O'Rourke about Lamine Camara is to be believed.

"Understand Monaco has rejected a €50m offer from Crystal Palace for Lamine Camara," he shared via X.

"Manchester United and Chelsea are monitoring the player as they consider moves for the Senegal international."

Even though Liverpool's midfield is their most stacked area at the moment, their performances massively let them down last term.

Dominik Szoboszlai was arguably the only one of Liverpool's midfielder's who met expectations which resulted in him being offered a new long-term deal.

Indeed, Gravenberch was also given this opportunity but, that felt like it was more to increase his value than anything else.

Camara is only 22 years old so there's still plenty of time for him to grow into an even better player than he already is.

However, since a fee worth over €50 million is going to be needed to take him away from the Ligue 1 outfit, Liverpool must ensure they have enough cash to sign other players among their ranks as well.

Here's hoping that everything works out and Camara eventually makes his way to L4.
