Liverpool handed massive boost in transfer chase for £46m sensation
Liverpool may not be able to add any new players to their ranks at the moment but, that doesn't mean the rumour mill has stopped turning.
Fans expected the Reds to be involved with a lot more transfers over the summer with some even expecting an entire rebuild of their first-team squad.
And, while four new players were signed, it still doesn't feel like enough has been done to make the Reds title contenders again.
Obviously, this could all change by the 12th as they'll have faced Manchester City who are sitting at the top of the Premier League at the moment, six points ahead of Liverpool.
If the Reds manage to beat the Cityzens, their lead will be cut in half and race will well and truly be on.
And, since the January transfer window is now only a few months away, the additions that they make in winter could help get them back on track and potentially fighting for even more silverware.
So, the fact that Andoni Iraola has now been handed a massive boost in his chase for one £46 million sensation is excellent news.
Barcelona want Jeremie Frimpong which could help with Ronald Araujo's Liverpool move
One of Liverpool's best signings this summer has been Ronald Araujo.
The defender has brought a new layer of solidity to the Reds' back line and, without him, Liverpool would have been much worse off.
Although his attacking work could do with a bit of an upgrade, there's no hiding from how good of a defender he actually is.
His solidity will have massively helped Liverpool this season with the addition of Jeremy Jacquet also proving rather beneficial.
But, for Araujo's move to become permanent, some changes will have to be made which is why the latest news to emerge from journalist Juan Jesus is rather exciting.
"EXCLUSIVE: Barça isn't just following Pedro Porro: Jeremie Frimpong is also on the shortlist to bolster the right-back position," he wrote.
"Flick requested him in his first year alongside Olmo, and Deco isn't losing sight of his situation.
"The player is going through a nightmare at Liverpool, unable to adapt to England. Plus, he doesn't factor into Iraola's plans, who relies much more on Ronald Araújo for that position.
"Frimpong is very open to signing with Barça.
"The Reds are opening the door to his exit for €35 million."
Jeremie Frimpong joining Barcelona would help Liverpool sign Ronald Araujo
Since Barcelona want Frimpong and Liverpool will probably want Araujo, a deal for both players makes a lot of sense.
By the time Conor Bradley is back from injury, Frimpong will end up as the Reds' third choice.
Obviously, this would stay the same for the rest of the 2026-27 season and would have to be looked at by the end.
If the Reds did end up wanting to make Araujo's stay permanent, it's hard to see where Frimpong would fit into Iraola's plans.
Of course, he's only 25 years old so there is technically time for him to become better but, with other right-backs such as Michael Kayode already being linked, it feels like this is the end of the line for Frimpong.
So, the fact that Barcelona want him works out perfectly.
Barcelona and Liverpool could easily end up working something out where deals for the duo make sense for both parties.
By doing this, each club would get what they want and both fanbases are likely to be happy.
Here's hoping that this deal gets sanctioned.
