Club legend's son lined up to replace Jeremie Frimpong

An exciting player is being lined up to replace Jeremie Frimpong at Liverpool.

Things just haven't really worked out for the Dutchman at Anfield. The truth is Frimpong was given an unfair job.

Replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold was never going to be simple. Replacing him when you aren't even really a right-back but more of a wing-back instead was going to be near impossible.

It's now two successive managers in a row who have decided to not make Frimpong their starting right-back.

Arne Slot preferred Dominik Szoboszlai or Curtis Jones in the role over Frimpong. Meanwhile, Andoni Iraola seems to prefer Ronald Araujo over Frimpong.

It raises a question about what Frimpong's future holds in the team. He's not really a winger and he's not a right-back so how can he actually contribute?

The new way of using Liverpool's right-backs

Iraola decision to play a more defensive-minded centre-back like Araujo to be a right-back has worked dividends. It's freed up Milos Kerkez to making more forward runs, and tried to get in behind the opposition.

It's also allowed Liverpool to be a lot more solid at the back.

With Araujo on the pitch, the Reds are yet to concede a single goal in the Premier League. When he has started as a right-back, Liverpool have three clean-sheets in a row.

So, Iraola's tactics are working and that's a great thing.

The chances are that Araujo will be kept on a permanent deal from Barcelona and Liverpool will be looking to have someone provide a back-up role of a similar style to him.

The answer for that is clear.

Prince Kobe Cisse is being lined-up to replace Frimpong

The son of Djibril Cisse, who represents Liverpool's Legend team and who won the Champions League with the Reds, Prince Kobe has caught the eye at academy level for some time.

He started out as an attacker just like his dad but overtime he's been converted to a defender. The young Cisse has been brilliant playing predominantly as a centre-back for Liverpool's U18 and U19 sides.

Recently, he's made the step-up to play for the U21s. And he's not disappointed there either.

Due to an injury to Isaac Mabaya Cisse has been asked to play as a right-back. He started out in that role against Rochdale in the EFL Trophy before having to move to centre-back due to the red card dismissal of Mor Talla Ndiaye.

In that game against senior opposition, Cisse did very well. He won three of his four duels, made seven clearances, three recoveries and three blocks while also completing 34 of his 40 pass attempts, six of which were played into the opposition's final third.

In his profile, Cisse is very similar to Araujo and with no real recognised right-back prospect at the club he will now be tasked with playing that Araujo role at U21 level.

Ultimately, that is going to line him up to be the man to replace Frimpong. Even at such a young age, Djibril Cisse's son is much better suited to the right-back position than the former Bayer Leverkusen man.
