Liverpool star who's living a 'nightmare' is now wanted by Euro giants

Liverpool have faced a fair few problems over the past couple of years.

And, even though they may have won the Premier League title just two seasons ago, their performances last term left an awful lot to be desired.

Thanks to these outings, the Reds' fanbase demanded plenty of change and requested that their recruitment team dipped their toes into the market to try and improve their ranks.

This led to Richard Hughes and Andoni Iraola spending over £150 million on even more new players and, while the vast majority of them have made their mark, change is still needed.

Without this change, Liverpool are likely to fall even further away from their Premier League title rivals and could potentially miss out on bringing it home.

However, after the latest transfer news to emerge from Anfield, they already look like they're well on their way towards deciding their next steps in the market.

Barcelona now want to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Liverpool

Right-back was one of Liverpool's main issues last season.

The Anfield outfit had Curtis Jones and Dominik Szobsozlai playing there fairly often which, even though they performed well, was far from ideal.

However, if it wasn't for the sheer number of injuries that Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley suffered, that wouldn't have even been an issue.

But, since it was a rather large problem, Liverpool had to go searching for a new right-back which led them to Ronald Araujo.

And, since Bradley is still side-lined, Frimpong has now become Araujo's back-up as he's been one of the most transformative signings that the Reds have made recently.

Not only has he helped shore up the Reds' defence but, he's also proven why having a right-back who can perform well defensively is so important.

So, that's why this recent update from journalist Juan Jesus about Frimpong's future should pique the interests of Liverpool's fanbase.

"EXCLUSIVE: Barça isn't just following Pedro Porro: Jeremie Frimpong is also on the shortlist to bolster the right-back position," he shared via X.

"Flick requested him in his first year alongside Olmo, and Deco isn't losing sight of his situation.

"The player is going through a nightmare at Liverpool, unable to adapt to England. Plus, he doesn't factor into Iraola's plans, who relies much more on Ronald Araújo for that position.

"Frimpong is very open to signing with Barça.

"The Reds are opening the door to his exit for €35 million."

Liverpool must accept Barcelona's bid if they offer €35 million for Jeremie Frimpong

As mentioned, Jeremie Frimpong's time with Liverpool hasn't been the best.

Although his lightning quick pace his hard for opponents to match, everything else about his game needs a lot of improvement.

When playing for Bayer Leverkusen, he was one of Xabi Alonso's most important players as he contributed to over 15 goals from right-wingback.

And, even though Liverpool thought that the Dutchman's creativity would be a perfect replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold's, they were mistaken.

At the moment, he's barely getting any playing time and, when Bradley is back, he's almost certainly going to be Liverpool's third-choice right-back.

Indeed, his versatility does mean that he could play as a winger but, after spending over £150 million on two new wingers this summer, there's no way that Iraola will consistently use Frimpong as an attacker.

So, if these rumours are true and Barcelona actually do want to offer €35 million for Frimpong, it's certainly something Liverpool should consider.
