Liverpool finally find their Mo Salah successor in 25-goal star
Mohamed Salah's Liverpool exit was probably the highest-profile of all the Reds' transfers this summer.
The Egypitan King agreed to mutually terminate his deal which led to Andoni Iraola's squad saving around £20 million in wages during the 2026-27 campaign.
In the grand scheme of things, this isn't all that much money but, freeing up that amount of wages for the entire squad is massively beneficial for Liverpool.
Iraola and Richard Hughes brought four new players through the Anfield doors with two of their wages easily being covered by Salah's exit.
However, even though fans knew that Liverpool needed a natural right-winger to get brought in, they failed to do that and, instead, added two more left-wingers to their ranks.
And, while each of them have had a decent impact on the way that things have panned out at Anfield, Liverpool still need to add a proper right-winger to their squad.
Liverpool want to sign Assane Diao from Como
Over the summer, it was hard to keep track of how many wingers Liverpool were linked with.
Their main target was Yan Diomande but, since RB Leipzig were demanding obscene amounts of money for him, that deal never came to fruition.
Instead, the Ivory Coast international ended up joining Real Madrid which made the club turn their focus towards Bradley Barcola.
The Frenchman was obviously brought in and, even though he can be used as a right-winger if needed, Liverpool would be much better off if they brought a natural right-winger in.
So, the fact that 442 have now linked Liverpool with Como's Assane Diao is rather exciting.
"Senegalese winger Assane Diao is shining with his performances for Serie A club Como. Manchester United sent their scouts out some time ago and are completely convinced of the 21-year-old attacker's abilities," they wrote.
"According to information from 4-4-2.ch, his strong performances have attracted the attention not only of Manchester United, but also of other Premier League clubs: Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Liverpool, Everton and Brentford are all eyeing the striker.
"Como has not yet received a concrete offer. Diao is contractually bound to the northern Italian club until 2029.
"Como currently sees no financial pressure to sell, especially since they are even participating in the Champions League this season. A transfer fee of around 50 to 55 million euros would be required."
Assane Diao could very easily become Liverpool's next Mohamed Salah
As mentioned, Salah was one of Liverpool's most important players during his time at Anfield.
The Egyptian King was their main attacker and, even though he was used as a right-winger, he still managed to score the most goals out of all Liverpool's attackers during most of his seasons at the club.
He even chipped in with multiple assists for his teammates, especially when Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino were around.
However, with the Reds not yet signing a replacement for Salah, they're clearly still on the lookout and, of all the potential options, Diao seems like one of the best.
Throughout his career so far, he's bagged 25 goals and, even though he's mostly featured as a right-winger, he can play anywhere across the front three if needed.
Diao is also only 21 years old so, there's plenty of time for him to grow into an even better player than he already is.
Here's hoping that the Reds can agree a deal and get this transfer over the line.
