Liverpool confirm final decision on sensation after major transfer update

Andoni Iraola was expected to completely change Liverpool's ranks this summer.

When it was announced that the Spaniard would be taking over from Arne Slot, fans were ecstatic about the heavy-metal style of football that he was going to bring.

Throughout pre-season, the Reds looked solid but, after their first two Premier League games, fans have been left with more questions than answers.

The entire Reds' fanbase knew that changes were needed and, while some have been made, it still feels like more needs to come.

That's why Liverpool making their final decisions on the future of some players already is great news.

Now that Bradley Barcola has been signed, Liverpool's main problem area is their midfield.

At the moment, they have three senior options (four if you include Wataru Endo) who can be used in the centre of the park.

It would've been five but, now that Curtis Jones is gone, there's a bit of a hole in their starting XI.

Most people expected this to be filled by someone such as Lamine Camara or Manu Kone but, now that we're edging closer to the deadline, that hole doesn't look likely to be plugged.

But, according to an update from Sky Sports News, it seems like the Reds now have a plan in place to address this issue with the club deciding to not entertain any moves made for Trey Nyoni this summer.

"Liverpool have rejected a £30 million bid from Nottingham Forest for Trey Nyoni," they said.

"It's understood that Forest are willing to pay a fixed fee of £25 million with £5 million in add-ons for the 19-year-old.

"Liverpool are not entertaining the possibility of letting him go, he's viewed as an important part of the squad and is expected to step up after the departure of Curtis Jones."

As mentioned, Liverpool's opening Premier League games haven't been their best performances ever.

Admittedly, the fact that they're now able to score goals is certainly an added bonus of Iraola's arrival but, since they're conceding as many as they're scoring, it all feels little underwhelming.

Indeed, Iraola has had a shortened pre-season to get all of his players on the same page thanks to the World Cup but, you'd still think that the Reds should've been able to beat Newcastle and Forest in their match-ups.

However, the vast majority of their squad failed to perform to the standards expected of them which led to some rather awful goals getting conceded.

But, when Nyoni was brought on, things seemed to change and the Reds' tempo picked up.

He was even seen screaming at Ryan Gravenberch to try and get him back into his defensive position, rather than just standing around up front.

These qualities are all signs of a top-class player and, if he manages to perform like that for the rest of the campaign, Liverpool will be in safe hands.

Obviously, a new midfielder being brought in would massively improve the mood around Anfield but, if the four/five options they have available to them now are the ones they're stuck with, they should hopefully be ok.
