Liverpool can find their next Fabinho in £50m sensation
Liverpool still haven't managed to find a replacement for Fabinho despite him exiting Anfield back in 2023.
The Brazilian was a brick wall in the middle of Liverpool's midfield with his defensive capabilities some of the best on display in L4 at times.
His ability to win duels and fall into the back line if needed are just two of the things that Liverpool are missing at the moment.
Of course, there were times when others such as Stefan Bajcetic stepped in for him but, since the Brazilian's exit, nobody has managed to meet that same level of performance that he set.
That's why in almost every single transfer window since, the Reds have been linked with a new number six.
And now, they may have finally found their perfect successor for the Brazilian.
Fulham's Josh King is wanted by Liverpool
As mentioned, many different midfielders have been linked with Liverpool over the last few years.
Adam Wharton has been the most consistent name mentioned but, recently, others such as Lamine Camara and Alex Scott have both emerged as potential options.
One of the main problems with a deal for any of these players is the amount of money that they're going to cost.
Wharton and Scott could easily cost over £90 million a piece and Camara could be around £70 million now.
However, thanks to an update from 442, Fulham's Josh King is now being eyed by Liverpool with the Cottagers only rating him at around £50 million.
"According to information from 4-4-2.ch , Arsenal, Liverpool, and Borussia Dortmund are seriously considering signing King," they wrote.
"Gunners coach Mikel Arteta is convinced of the playmaker's qualities. The same is true for Liverpool's management, who have been monitoring the England U21 international for some time.
"So far, Fulham have not received a concrete offer. King's contract with the West London club currently runs until 2029.
"His club has ruled out a sale in the winter transfer window. However, this could change next summer – provided the offer is right. The asking price is already around €60 million."
Josh King could be Liverpool's next Fabinho
Of all the defensive midfielders linked with Liverpool, King is one of the most exciting prospects.
At the moment, he's only 19 years old so, even though he's already a top-class player, the fact that he can grow and become even better is extremely exciting.
He's already played 55 games across all competitions for Fulham and he's even managed to contribute to seven goals across all competitions.
This term, the midfielder has really come out of his shell as he's already managed to bag two goals.
Although King is often used as a number six, he can also be used as a number eight or a 10 if needed.
The £50 million fee obviously seems like a lot of money for a 19-year-old but, with how desperate Liverpool are for homegrown players, signing him for that amount would probably be a steal.
Here's hoping that this deal actually gets confirmed and gets over the line.
