Liverpool ready to sign English sensation to replace Florian Wirtz
Liverpool are pressing ahead to sign an exciting English sensation who could replace Florian Wirtz.
The German has been under pressure at Anfield recently. Wirtz arrived with so much excitement. He was going to the next superstar at Anfield.
And then what happened?
Well, he's been struggling to fit into the system, or the rhythm of English football. He's not quite what everyone expected him to be.
Wirtz has become a problem for Andoni Iraola. Because of how much hype Wirtz has and because of how much Liverpool invested in him, the Reds simply have to persist with their exciting talisman.
However, for much longer can they afford to be patient? Especially with Bayern Munich a willing customer.
Liverpool's homegrown disaster under Richard Hughes
Another issue that is becoming apparent is the lack of homegrown players in Liverpool's squad.
Over the last two years, Richard Hughes has been deliberately selling homegrown players. From Tyler Morton to Jarell Quansah and Curtis Jones.
Not to mention Trent Alexander-Arnold and Caoimhin Kelleher.
All of the above mentioned players could have a regular role to play in this squad and all of them have been trained from academy level to reach the first-team.
Their sales have left Liverpool in a situation which has led to players like Isaac Mabaya, who is 22-years-old and has just one appearance for the first-team having to be registered in the Premier League squad, just to make up the numbers.
That needs to change. Liverpool need to maximise their homegrown options.
Liverpool's exciting plans to sign English star Josh King
According to 4-4-2, Liverpool are among the clubs ready to sign Josh King from Fulham. The England youth international has been in great form this season.
While Fulham have been disappointing under former Liverpool player Alvaro Arbeloa, King has caught the eye.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has two goals in five games and also registered an assist in the League Cup.
His high-intensity playing style and excellent technical ability makes him the perfect fit for Iraola's style of play. Ultimately, he's also the perfect replacement for Wirtz.
King solves the issue of who could play in that no.10 position, as well as the homegrown problem and it would allow Liverpool to offload Wirtz back to Bayern Munich.
If the above report is to be believed, then Julian Ward is likely preparing to replace Wirtz with King. It's a situation to keep a close eye on.
