Liverpool handed boost in pursuit of Andoni Iraola favourite
Liverpool’s start to life under Andoni Iraola has been solid, but not spectacular.
The Reds are yet to taste defeat under the Spaniard but already sit six points off the Premier League leaders after just five games.
A marked improvement defensively since last season is a huge positive, but issue persist in the midfield.
Iraola’s midfield has looked unbalanced and has been the biggest problem at Anfield so far this campaign.
Adding a fresh face to the unit looks to be the most appropriate solution, and Liverpool have reportedly received a big boost in the pursuit of one top target.
Bournemouth hand Liverpool massive Alex Scott boost
One of the names that has been linked most with a Merseyside move ahead of the winter is Bournemouth star Alex Scott.
The Cherries are reportedly reluctant to let the English international go mid-season but a new report has suggested that they are already lining up a move for his replacement, a development that will give Liverpool hope.
According to TEAMtalk, Bournemouth have identified Wolves midfielder Fer Lopez as a potential long-term replacement for Scott as they brace for several big bids in January.
The report stresses that the Cherries are not actively planning to sell Scott, but that they have become increasingly proactive in looking for long-term replacements, with Arthur Avom and Kees Smit also both on the radar.
The plan isn’t currently to sell Scott, but the club want to be prepared in case plans change.
Liverpool will be encouraged by Bournemouth’s pursuit of a replacement and will feel that, despite the club’s insistence that Scott isn’t for sale, a deal could be done for the right price in January.
A deal in the winter would likely see Scott become the Reds’ fourth £100 million player, but it feels likely the interest will remain even if the Englishman doesn’t make the switch in January.
