Liverpool turn towards teenage sensation to replace Florian Wirtz

Florian Wirtz has probably been one of Liverpool's biggest let downs since he joined the club last summer.

When the German midfielder was initially signed, he was the Reds' record signing and, although that title was short-lived thanks to Alexander Isak's arrival, the fact that the Anfield outfit spent £116 million on Wirtz will certainly be hanging over his head.

The fact that Arne Slot failed to play to the strengths of a decent number of his players last term also probably didn't help matters much, especially since he needed to settle in and get used to life as a Premier League player.

But, now that Andoni Iraola is in charge and Jurgen Klopp is Germany's manager, it feels like he may finally be able to meet expectations.

And, despite how true this may be, it does feel like Liverpool may now be eyeing a move for his successor.

Liverpool want to make a £37m bid for Gilberto Mora

At the moment, Wirtz is more or less Liverpool's only number 10.

And, with his price tag, you'd expect the German to be all that the Anfield outfit needs but, his performances this term have been less than ideal.

So far, he only managed to earn himself one assist while scoring zero goals.

This has caused fans to question whether the 23-year-old is the right man for the job and whether there is anyone who Liverpool could buy that would do a better job than the German.

Some have even been asking for Dominik Szobsozlai to move forward but, with how few defensive midfielders the Reds have among their ranks, they can't really sacrifice the Hungarian and move him up.

These facts have caused the rumour mill to start spinning and now, according to TUDN host David Faitelson, Liverpool have made a bid for Gilberto Mora that exceeds €50 million.

"Given the series of rumors circulating about Gilberto Mora's potential departure from Tijuana to play in European football, David Faitelson warned that there are already indications, even within the Mexican National Team, that they are all true," they wrote.

"The TUDN host asserted that the offer exists and is for a record amount in Mexican soccer , and that it is from one of the most prestigious clubs in the English Premier League.

"'I'm told in Tijuana that they received word from Gilberto Mora's representative, a Brazilian woman named Rafaela Pimenta, that there's an offer from an English club, in this case Liverpool, for a record-breaking sum exceeding $50 million for Xolos de Tijuana for Gilberto Mora, who turns 18 next week.'"

Gilberto Mora could become Liverpool's next Florian Wirtz

The fact that a fee worth £37 million is being discussed as a potentially good deal for Liverpool is mind-boggling.

However, with how good Mora is, the Mexico international more than backs that price tag up.

During the summer, he became the second-youngest player to ever feature for his country at a World Cup and, although he didn't get any goal contributions during the tournament, since his return, he's been on a whole other level.

Whether he's been used as an attacking midfielder or a left-winger, he's always been one of Club Tijuana's best players.

This season alone, the midfielder has scored five goals in the Liga MX and has got one assist to his name.

The fact that he can play as a number 10 or a winger is just one of the many similarities he has with Wirtz.

Mora's keen eye for goal and his ability to dribble past opponents with ease are also major selling points.

And, if he joins Liverpool in January, he'd be classed as homegrown within three years which, with the struggles Liverpool are currently facing, would be priceless.

At the moment, it's anyone's guess whether the deal will go through or not but, if it does, Liverpool will have an exceptional player on their hands.
