Liverpool's left-back situation has quickly become a major problem for them.

Kostas Tsimikas and Milos Kerkez have both failed to meet expectations with fans now getting rather used to both players being subbed off for one another in the middle of games.

When Tsimikas plays, fans miss Kerkez and when Kerkez plays, fans miss Tsimikas. It ends up being an endless cycle of Liverpool trying to figure out who their best left-back actually is.

Obviously, Kerkez was one of Andoni Iraola's best players at Bournemouth during the 2024-25 season with the Hungarian even being crowned as the Premier League's best left-back that season.

Since then, that version of the 22-year-old has failed to show up, which, when Liverpool spent around £45 million on signing him, is far from ideal.

His poor form has led to many questions being asked by fans with Julian Ward now having to go out of his way to find potential replacement options for the former Bournemouth man.

Archie Brown is now on Liverpool's radar as a potential left-back option

As mentioned, Liverpool are suffering with their left-backs at the moment.

Some fans are actually still questioning why Andy Robertson was even allowed to leave for nothing at the end of last season.

Because, even though he may have been getting on a bit, he still played a regular role in Arne Slot's team and, from the vast majority of his performances for Tottenham this season, he'd have been a better option than what they have right now.

Indeed, Tsimikas is expected to leave on a free at the end of this season so, change is coming but, right now, it's unclear who could be targeted.

Many different players have been linked but, thanks to an update from TEAMtalk, Fenerbahce's Archie Brown looks like an option that Liverpool want to explore.

"Archie Brown scored and provided an assist to help Fenerbahce beat Liverpool in a famous 3-2 victory in Istanbul – against a side who have been monitoring the left-back and now look poised to ramp up their interest, TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal," they wrote.

"His contribution will have been particularly interesting for Liverpool, who TEAMtalk understands have been carrying out work on the defender this season as they assess potential options at left-back.

"However, the Merseyside club are far from alone in their admiration of the former Gent man.

"TEAMtalk understands that Brown has attracted interest from several Premier League sides, with Chelsea having had him on their radar last year through the BlueCo recruitment network.

"Manchester United have also been monitoring his progress regularly, while Newcastle United, Everton and Brighton are among the other clubs understood to have kept tabs on his development."

Archie Brown is a better left-back than Kostas Tsimikas and Milos Kerkez

Brown may have been born in Birmingham but, he's spent almost all of his professional football career outside of England.

The left-back has played for numerous clubs across the world with his current club, Fenerbahce, the highest profile of the lot.

Throughout his career, he's been used all the way down the left-hand side of the pitch but, thanks to his defensive capabilities and his speed, he's sort of settled into his role as a left-back.

Thanks to his time with Derby as a youngster, he'd be classed as homegrown which, for Liverpool, is a massive bonus.

Much like Kerkez, Brown is only 22 so he has a lot of his career ahead of him but, even just after his performance against the Reds in the Champions League on Wednesday, it's clear that he'd be a better option for Liverpool to have at their disposal.

And, with Tsimikas' contract set to expire soon, he'd be a perfect option for Liverpool to explore.
