It's on: Liverpool given green light to sign Yan Diomande

Yan Diomande has been the most-linked attacker with a Liverpool transfer this season.

The 19-year-old has been in fine form for RB Leipzig over the last couple of campaigns with the Ivorian arguably being their best player this term.

He can play anywhere across the front three and, even though his best position is on the wings, he's done well for the Bundesliga outfit when used as a number nine.

However, since Champions League qualification is now almost guaranteed for Leipzig, the German club could end up asking for more than €100 million to prise him away from the Red Bull Arena.

But, after the recent update that has just emerged, it feels like Liverpool could actually be a step closer to adding the Ivorian to their ranks.

RB Leipzig are 'closely monitoring' a new winger ahead of the summer transfer window

Liverpool are in dire need of attacking reinforcement next season.

Most of their attackers have failed to meet expectations which has led to the club battling it out for a Champions League place.

But, since they spent so much money in the last summer window, the choices they make in the market have to be right otherwise things could end up even worse than they are now.

So, the fact that Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has shared that RB Leipzig are now 'monitoring' a right-winger must surely be good news for Liverpool.

"Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Bayer 04 Leverkusen are the three Bundesliga clubs closely monitoring Zadok Yohanna," he wrote via his personal X account.

"A move this summer is possible. The 18 y/o top talent, a right winger, is under contract at AIK."

Yan Diomande would be an exceptional transfer for Liverpool

Even though Diomande could end up taking most of Liverpool's transfer budget this summer, it's hard to deny that the Ivorian would be an exceptional signing for them.

Their main goal over the last couple of transfer windows has been to sign players with bags of potential who can also do a job as soon as they join the team.

They've managed to achieve these goals with the transfers of Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez with Diomande another example of that system working.

And, since the Ivorian is only 19 years old, he could genuinely become one of the best wingers in the world if his progression continues in this upward fashion.

Of course, making the step up from the Bundesliga to the Premier League will be a massive jump but, seeing as though he's contributed to 21 goals across all competitions this season, it's clear that he has plenty of talent in his locker.
