Incredible: Star rejects big-money offer; he wants Liverpool move
One midfield star has rejected a big-money move to Saudi Arabia. He wants to join Liverpool.
Liverpool will almost certainly invest in their midfield this summer. The Reds lacked all sorts last season and need fresh faces, particularly when it comes to adding more physicality.
The Reds felt lightweight, both with and without the ball, which is simply something they have to address. One player who could help there is Khephren Thuram - a midfielder who loves to progress the team with the ball at his feet and push towards goal.
It seems that both Liverpool and Manchester United have the same idea in viewing Thuram as a real opportunity this summer. As do Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli.
TuttoJuve reports that they've made an offer to Thuram, hoping to get ahead of interest from Liverpool and United. However, shortly after that report TuttoSport claimed that the player had said no to Al-Ahli as he plans to hold out for either the Reds or their rivals.
Liverpool, then, do have that opportunity. Thuram should be available for around €50m from Juventus as they attempt to raise funds for the window.
This is also confirmation that the player would accept a move, meaning the Reds really are only a few steps away from completing a deal if they want it.
