Yan Diomande: Liverpool deal looks on after bombshell report
Liverpool have a green light to push for Yan Diomande. This could be the start of something special.
It's little secret that Liverpool want to sign Yan Diomande. The Ivorian is their priority signing for the summer, even if it's far from an easy one to make happen.
First of all, you've got to persuade RB Leipzig to actually sell the player. Nothing happens if you're unable to do that - and it'll likely take over €100m to convince them.
Then comes convincing Diomande himself. Now, getting him to leave Leipzig probably isn't all that difficult. It's getting him to leave for Liverpool that might be a struggle as they're not the only club pushing.
The other major suitor is Paris Saint-Germain, who have been consistently linked as Liverpool's competition. Fabrizio Romano confirmed that again recently on the Here We Go Podcast, saying that both are in the mix and that the Reds are 'really pushing' for the player.
And now there's a sign that it's all paying off. L'Equipe reports that PSG now have another target in mind: they want Michael Olise.
It is highly unlikely that PSG sign both Olise and Diomande, so the fact they're even targeting the Bayern Munich star suggests they've taken their eye off the Leipzig star. And that's a green light for Liverpool to keep pushing and get this deal done.
If the Reds are willing to meet the asking price, there may no longer be anyone in their way here. All signs point to Diomande heading to Anfield.
Yan Diomande: Situation Summary
Transfer Status and Anfield Pursuit
As of 11 June 2026, Yan Diomande remains an RB Leipzig player, though he is at the centre of intense transfer speculation linking him to Liverpool. The 19-year-old Ivorian winger has been identified by the Reds as a primary target to replace Mohamed Salah. Reports confirmed today that Liverpool have submitted their first formal bid to RB Leipzig for the teenager, as the club looks to secure the talented attacker ahead of stiff competition, most notably from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City. While Leipzig have previously maintained a firm valuation—reportedly in the region of €130 million—Liverpool remain "relatively optimistic" about their chances of securing the deal.
Club and International Career
Diomande has enjoyed a remarkable breakout season in the Bundesliga, recording 12 goals and eight assists during the 2025/26 campaign. His explosive pace, dribbling, and tactical intelligence have established him as one of Europe's most coveted prospects. Internationally, Diomande has become a mainstay for the Ivory Coast national team. He is currently part of their 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and recently featured in a friendly match against France on 4 June 2026.
