The next Mo Salah is here, and he is incredible

There's a new Mo Salah on the scene and he is destined to join Liverpool.

It was an eyebrow raising decision not to replace the Egyptian star this summer. Salah's departure has left a void in the squad but looking back it was definitely a necessary move.

Ultimately, Liverpool had moved away from relying on their former talisman. Salah is still a supreme footballer. However, long-term Liverpool need to look ahead to the future.

That future is now represented by Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Bradley Barcola alongside a myriad of supporting cast players who are young and hungry and determined to make an impression on the first-team.

It's an exciting direction, especially with Andoni Iraola at the helm.

But it's also a work in progress.

Why Liverpool decided not to sign a right-winger

Liverpool did want to sign a right-winger in the summer window having set their sights on Yan Diomande. However, their pursuit failed. The Ivorian ended-up at Real Madrid.

It was at that point that Liverpool had to pivot in a new direction. They explored moves for Ibrahim Mbaye and Yankuba Minteh.

Late on in the window the Reds also considered Ismaila Sarr.

Ultimately, though none of the moves seemed like the right financial decision. Mbaye was deemed to expensive, as was Sarr. Meanwhile, Minteh's injury meant it did not make sense for Liverpool to make a move for him this summer.

But there is no denying they could explore in the move come the January window.

Although, they might not. Because there's an exciting right-winger emerging who could be the next Salah.

Meet Asane Sow, the next Mo Salah

Salah first made a name for himself at FC Basel in Europe. It's in Switzerland where he emerged onto the scene with his prolific numbers.

The Egyptian made 34 goal contributions in 79 games for Basel before moving to Chelsea - who beat Liverpool back in 2014 to sign him.

Basel has been known as a hub for young players to make a good impression ever since and right now the Swiss side have a player who is now following in the footsteps of Salah.

Asane Sow signed for Basel this summer from Serie C side Pro Vercelli. It was a big step-up for the young talent but he's started off brilliantly.

The 20-year-old has four goals and four assists in his first eight games for Basel - playing all of those games on the right-wing.

Sow is quick and he excels in one vs one situations. He is exactly the type of right-winger Liverpool are looking for.

Not to mention he is Senegalese which means he will want to follow in the footsteps of not just Salah but his country's icon Sadio Mane.

That is why it feels like he is a player who is bound to sign for Liverpool. What the Reds could not do in 2014 - they could now do with Sow in 2027.
