Liverpool could already be on the verge of securing their first transfer of the January window.

It has been less than twenty-four hours since the summer deadline concluded but already the Reds will be plotting for their next move.

Liverpool's summer window ended with an anti-climax.

There was a lot of promise of there being a transformative era under Andoni Iraola.

However, ultimately Liverpool signed just three players this summer and one of them in Ronald Araujo is only a loan move.

The other two in Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola are exciting arrivals.

However, only time will tell whether Liverpool's business was enough this summer or whether they will be feeling the repercussions of their lack of activity later on in the season.

Liverpool already planning for January window with exciting transfers

Having failed to sign Yankuba Minteh and Ismaila Sarr, it's possible Liverpool will return for one of the African attackers in the winter transfer period.

Minteh has long been on Liverpool's radar and he is someone who fits the profile of what Iraola wants from his attackers both in terms of his ability to beat defenders in one vs one situations and also to provide crosses into the box.

On top of that, he provides important energy defensively, and that is a key element of how Iraola wants his team to play.

Sarr has his heart set on a move to Liverpool and it is understood he is extremely disappointed at having been blocked by Crystal Palace to complete what would have been a dream move.

It would have allowed him to follow in the footsteps of Sadio Mane.

But there is another player who Liverpool are planning to sign and whose sporting director might have just confirmed is coming to Anfield.

Sporting director hints at Lamine Camara's transfer to Liverpool

Camara had a move fall through to Chelsea at the last minute of the summer window which has opened the door for him to move to Anfield.

According to Ben Jacobs who was speaking on talkSPORT Liverpool have pretty much promised to sign Camara in 2027.

"But I can tell you something else exclusive right now, Liverpool Football Club made a call this evening and more than one I am told, to say to the camp of Camara, 'wait', to say to Monaco, 'wait' because Liverpool don't want Lamine Camara now, they never explored it," Jacobs said.

"Alexis Mac Allister is still at the club but my understanding is that Liverpool said to Monaco 'wait.' Liverpool said to Camara 'wait.'

"Now to be clear so this is not taken out of context we are not saying Liverpool interfered in the deal relating to Chelsea we are saying all day Liverpool said to Monaco and Liverpool said to Camara if you don't get your move, and it was not looking likely in the middle of the day, we will be back for you potentially in 2027 and that is a factor in this story."

Now AS Monaco's sporting director Thiago Scuro speaking in a press conference, as per Nizaar Kinsella, has confirmed Camara would secure a 'major' transfer 'very soon.'

That sounds like a massive hint or even confirmation that Camara is coming to Liverpool.
