Liverpool have a lot of change coming their way in the summer.

They may have already spent over £400 million in the last summer window but, it now feels like there's going to be more than just on-pitch changes at Anfield.

Things haven't gone to plan for Arne Slot and his men this term with the club currently battling it out for a Champions League place.

Many fans and pundits believed that the Reds would cruise to the Premier League title but, with things such as injuries and multiple changes taking a massive toll on the club, they now find themselves in fourth place, three points behind Manchester United and level with Aston Villa.

This lack of form has caused the rumour mill to go into overdrive with a fresh update now emerging that could shake things up even more.

Richard Hughes edges closer to Liverpool exit

As mentioned, change is almost certainly on its way to L4 this season with Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah already scheduled to exit Anfield.

However, it's not just the players who are likely to change this summer with persistent rumours about the futures of Slot and Richard Hughes emerging.

And now, it feels like Hughes' future could have been decided.

That is, if a fresh report from Nico Schira is to be believed.

"Richard Hughes is one step away to sign for Al Hilal as new sporting director," he wrote via his personal X account.

"Agreement in principle for 3-years contract as revealed last March.

"He is set to leave Liverpool to join the Saudi Club."

Liverpool could do with changing one or two things before the start of next season

The 2025-26 season has been far from ideal for Liverpool.

The Anfield outfit have struggled against 'easy' opponents and have failed to prove their worth during their Champions League outings against teams such as Paris Saint-Germain and Galatasaray.

Most fans thought that this season was going to be a whitewash for Liverpool, especially since they had Salah and Alexander Isak leading their attacking line.

That's obviously been far from the case and now, even more money will need to be spent to try and get them back on track.

And, since Hughes' summer window didn't exactly go to plan, some change in the recruitment department could end up benefitting the club massively.

Indeed, some of the deals he struck were impressive but, in reality, change could end up being a good thing.

So, even though Liverpool needing to find a new sporting director would be a massive change, it could end up working out for the better.
