Massive news, Liverpool holding crunch transfer talks tonight
Liverpool are to hold massive transfer talks tonight. That's despite being involved in their opening game of the season.
Liverpool are running out of time to get deals done. They've got a little over a week to seal some game-changing moves after an incredibly slow summer.
Yes, the World Cup made things difficult this season, as did the ultimately unsuccessful move for Yan Diomande. But they're not alone in being held up - most teams have been made to wait in one way or another.
The problem with Liverpool is that they've struggled for breakthroughs in talks. That's particularly notable in their Bradley Barcola pursuit, where Paris Saint-Germain have refused to budge in their asking price.
Ibrahim Mbaye, also of PSG, has proven difficult to negotiate for, too. And now Liverpool have added Yankuba Minteh to that list.
Minteh is currently out injured for Brighton but the Reds are eager to sign him. They've had two offers rejected already, with the latest sitting at £60m.
He's an expensive one, then, and the Seagulls don't wish to let him leave but will do for the right price. Liverpool hope to find that price tonight.
Ben Jacobs reports that talks are happening tonight between the Reds and Brighton. They plan on seeing this one out, with the parties discussing terms to see if there can be common ground.
We might see whether a deal can be done by tomorrow morning, then. Liverpool desperately need some sort of deal to happen and the Minteh one might be the easiest, given the comparatively smaller fee than Barcola and the fact he's more proven than Mbaye.
